• Latches on with Mets
Wendle signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Mets on Wednesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Advice: After two seasons with the Marlins, Wendle will remain in the NL East and presumably serve in a utility role with the Mets. The 33-year-old infielder had his worst season at the plate in 2023, slashing .212/.248/.306 across 318 plate appearances. While Wendle's defensive versatility may get him in the lineup fairly often next year, his poor bat puts a low ceiling on his fantasy value. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:57 pm

  • Report: Mets, Joey Wendle agree to 1-yr, $2M deal
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports the Mets are in agreement with free agent infielder Joey Wendle on a one-year, $2 million contract.

Advice: The deal, which is pending a physical, will bring Wendle to Queens after spending the last two seasons with the division-rival Marlins where he posted an underwhelming .610 OPS with five homers and 19 steals across 689 plate appearances over 213 contests. The 33-year-old veteran infielder still offers plenty of defensive versatility, which makes him ideal for a utility role, but he’s not going to make much of an impact at the dish for New York. His presence could make it more difficult for some of the Mets’ top prospects to make their season-opening roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:42 pm

  • Inks one-year deal with KC
Hampson signed a one-year contract with the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: The deal is worth $2 million guaranteed, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com. Hampson was non-tendered by the Marlins earlier this month despite posting a career-best .276/.349/.380 batting line over 98 games in 2023 while appearing defensively at shortstop, second base, third base and all three outfield spots. The 29-year-old should be a useful super-utility option for Kansas City in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:43 pm

  • Royals sign Garrett Hampson to one-year contract
Royals signed INF/OF Garrett Hampson to a one-year, $2 million contract.

Advice: Hampson figures to open next season in a versatile utility role for the rebuilding Royals. The 29-year-old former top prospect, who never quite blossomed into the elite batting average and stolen base threat fantasy managers envisioned during his Rockies tenure, posted a .729 OPS with three homers and five steals in 252 plate appearances last year for the Marlins in a bench role. • Cody Bellinger takes N.L. Comeback POY honors
Cody Bellinger was named as the Comeback Player of the Year in the National League for the 2023 season.

Advice: The 28-year-old superstar bet on himself — taking a one-year deal with the Cubs after several disappointing seasons to end his Dodgers’ tenure — and that gamble paid off in a big way as he slashed an outstanding .307/.356/.525 with 26 long balls, 95 runs scored, 97 RBI and 20 stolen bases across 556 plate appearances in his 130 games. He’s expected to land an extremely lucrative multi-year contract this winter — with MLBTradeRumors.com projecting that he’ll wind up in the neighborhood of 12 years and $264 million. • White Sox sign Paul DeJong to one-year contract
White Sox signed INF Paul DeJong to a one-year, $1.75 million contract.

Advice: The 30-year-old infielder also has the potential to earn an additional $250,000 in incentives — $150,000 for reaching 400 plate appearances and an additional $100,000 for eclipsing 500 plate appearances. DeJong hit a paltry .207/.258/.355 with 14 long balls and 38 RBI across 400 plate appearances with the Cardinals, Giants and Blue Jays in 2023. He should function as the White Sox’ regular shortstop against left-handed pitching, but he’ll have to fight for additional at-bats beyond that. Rotoworld Monday, 4:26 pm

  • Nabs MiLB deal from Oakland
Park signed a minor-league deal with the Athletics on Nov. 20.

Advice: Park has previously seen action in 68 games in the majors with the Yankees and Pirates but spent the 2023 season exclusively at the Triple-A level in Atlanta's organization. Over 384 plate appearances with Gwinnett, Park slashed .262/.385/.379 with six home run and 17 stolen base. Park could have a better chance to resurface in the majors with an Athletics squad coming off a 112-loss season, but he's still more likely to open the 2024 campaign at Triple-A Las Vegas. • Joins Detroit on MiLB pact
Vilade signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Tuesday.

Advice: The 24-year-old Vilade will be moving on the third organization of his career after stints with Colorado and Pittsburgh since entering the professional ranks as a second-round draft pick in 2017. Vilade saw his lone big-league action with the Rockies in 2021 but has played almost exclusively at the Triple-A level over the past two seasons. Over 511 plate appearances with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis in 2023, Vilade slashed .270/.370/.382 with six home runs and seven stolen bases. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:43 am

  • Signs minor-league contract
Blandino signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Wednesday.

Advice: Blandino joined the Giants on a minor-league deal ahead of the 2022 season before being traded to the Mariners. He was let go by Seattle in August of 2022 and didn't play last year, but he's slated to get another opportunity to provide organizational depth for the Reds in 2023. The 31-year-old played in 135 major-league games with the Reds between the 2018, 2019 and 2021 seasons and hit .226 with two homers, 29 runs, 16 RBI and a steal. He should play mainly in the minors in 2023. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:15 pm
