    Advice: After two seasons with the Marlins, Wendle will remain in the NL East and presumably serve in a utility role with the Mets. The 33-year-old infielder had his worst season at the plate in 2023, slashing .212/.248/.306 across 318 plate appearances.     MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports the Mets are in agreement with free agent infielder Joey Wendle on a one-year, $2 million contract.

    Advice: The deal, which is pending a physical, will bring Wendle to Queens after spending the last two seasons with the division-rival Marlins where he posted an underwhelming .610 OPS with five homers and 19 steals across 689 plate appearances over 213 contests. The 33-year-old veteran infielder still offers plenty of defensive versatility, which makes him ideal for a utility role, but he’s not going to make much of an impact at the dish for New York.     Advice: The 30-year-old infielder also has the potential to earn an additional $250,000 in incentives — $150,000 for reaching 400 plate appearances and an additional $100,000 for eclipsing 500 plate appearances. DeJong hit a paltry .207/.258/.355 with 14 long balls and 38 RBI across 400 plate appearances with the Cardinals, Giants and Blue Jays in 2023.     Advice: The 24-year-old Vilade will be moving on the third organization of his career after stints with Colorado and Pittsburgh since entering the professional ranks as a second-round draft pick in 2017. Vilade saw his lone big-league action with the Rockies in 2021 but has played almost exclusively at the Triple-A level over the past two seasons.
