• Stays busy on basepaths
Ohtani went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: The 30-year-old superstar has swiped six bags in his last six games, pushing him up to 22 steals on the season -- just four shy of his career high. Ohtani has been doing plenty of damage with his bat as well, and since June 16 he's slashing .359/.480/.859 in 98 plate appearances with 11 homers, 21 runs and 22 RBI. • Swipes another base
Ohtani went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base Tuesday in a loss to the Phillies.

Advice: The Dodgers were routed in the matchup, so Ohtani got a few innings off after he was pinch-hit for in the seventh inning. Nonetheless, the slugger reached base twice and extended to three a streak of games with at least one steal. Ohtani is putting together an MVP-caliber campaign in his first year with the Dodgers -- he ranks first in the NL in homers (28) and runs (72), and is tied for third in RBI (65) and thefts (21). He also leads the National League and ranks second in MLB with a 1.037 OPS. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:35 am

  • Option to start Friday
Criswell could be recalled from Triple-A Worcester to start Friday against the Athletics, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Josh Winckowski is being shifted to the bullpen, creating an opening. Criswell struck out eight and allowed just one hit over six shutout innings in his last start for Worcester and would be on five days' rest Friday. Boston could also opt for a bullpen game versus Oakland. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:39 pm

  • Hogn Harris goes on paternity leave
Athletics placed LHP Hogan harris on the paternity list.

Advice: Harris will be away from the team while taking care of a new addition to the family. He’ll miss up to three days while Michel Otañez comes up from Triple-A Las Vegas in his absence. Rotoworld Tuesday, 12:35 pm

  • Goes on paternity leave
The Athletics placed Harris on the paternity leave list Tuesday.

Advice: By rule, Harris will miss one game and as many as three games while he welcomes a new baby to the family. He had tentatively been lined up to start Thursday in Boston, but the Athletics should be able to just push him back a day or two -- if need be -- without disrupting the rotation much. • Getting another start
Gordon is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Mets at Citi Field.

Advice: Gordon was lit it up for five runs on eight hits in his MLB debut this past Sunday against the Royals, but the fact that he pitched into the seventh inning without issuing a walk and while striking out four batters offered some signs of encouragement. The 26-year-old righty may not necessarily be in store for a long-term stay with the big club, but he'll get at least one more turn through the rotation while the Rockies wait for German Marquez (elbow) to complete his rehab assignment before returning from the 60-day injured list. • First to 20-20 mark
Ohtani went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases in a loss to the Brewers on Sunday.

Advice: Ohtani made the most of his lone hit, swiping both second and third base after singling in the third inning. The latter theft gave the slugger 20 steals on the campaign, and with 28 long balls, he is the league's first player to reach the 20-20 mark this season. This is the third time over the past four campaigns that Ohtani has achieved the feat. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:34 pm

  • Endures up-and-down MLB debut
Gordon (0-1) was the pitcher of record in Sunday's 10-1 loss to the Royals, striking out four over 6.1 innings while allowing five earned runs on eight hits and no walks.

Advice: While the 26-year-old's final stat line wasn't especially pretty, Gordon showed plenty of positive signs in his MLB debut. After yielding four runs -- including a three-run home run to Maikel Garcia -- in the second inning, Gordon rebounded by retiring 11 consecutive batters. He was able to pitch into the seventh inning, but was pulled after 78 pitches following MJ Melendez's solo home run and Garcia's bunt single. Assuming Sunday's outing was enough to earn another start, Gordon would be in line to face the Mets in New York next weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:41 am

  • Tagged with three runs
Carrasco yielded three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings during a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four in the win over San Francisco.

Advice: Carrasco served up a two-run shot to Michael Conforto in the second inning and gave up another run in the third. Carrasco has delivered at least five innings in five straight starts, registering a 4.67 ERA during that span. He's given up at least one homer in four straight appearances and has been tagged with 14 long balls over his last 12 starts. Carrasco owns a 5.22 ERA with a 65:25 K:BB through 81 innings. His next start is projected to be in Tampa Bay. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:57 pm
