• Jeimer Candelario powers Reds past Guardians
Jeimer Candelario blasted a pair of homers and drove in four runs on Wednesday night, accounting for all of the Reds’ offense in a 4-2 victory over the Guardians.

Advice: The 30-year-old infielder opened the scoring in the contest with a 404-foot (104.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Tanner Bibee. He then put the Reds ahead to stay with a 343-foot (96.9 mph EV) three-run blast that chased Bibee from the game in the sixth inning. Candelario also singled in the ballgame, finishing the night 3-for-4. On the season, he’s now slashing .243/.306/.476 with 11 homers and 31 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:08 pm
  • Optioned to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Kirilloff to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kirilloff will head to Triple-A in order to get back on track after going 2-for-21 with nine strikeouts since the beginning of June, bringing his season slash line down to .201/.270/.384 through 178 plate appearances. The Twins have not yet announced a corresponding move for Kirilloff's demotion, but his absence will likely spell more time in left field for Trevor Larnach. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:04 pm

  • Matt Olson hits two-run homer against Orioles
Matt Olson went 2-for-3 and hit a two-run homer against the Orioles on Wednesday.

Advice: The homer, which accounted for Atlanta’s only scoring tonight, briefly evened up the game in the top of the eighth, but the Orioles went right back ahead in the bottom of the inning. It’s incredible that the Braves’ lineup has basically been the equal of the White Sox’s for about a month and a half now. Olson has actually picked up his play during this terrible span, but he’s not getting much help. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:38 pm
  • Donovan Solano homers twice in Padres’ victory
Donovan Solano went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI on Wednesday in the Padres’ victory over the Athletics.

Advice: Solano homered off Oakland starter Hogan Harris and reliever Lucas Erceg to turn in one of the most unlikely multi-homer performances of the entire 2024 campaign. It was 36-year-old veteran journeyman’s first two-homer effort since August 4, 2019. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:26 pm

  • Moving into reserve role
Newman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Advice: He'll sit for the second day in a row and looks set to see a steep reduction in playing time moving forward after the Diamondbacks brought back top shortstop Geraldo Perdomo from the injured list Tuesday. Newman joined the Diamondbacks in the second week of the season following Perdomo's placement on the IL and hit .266 with two home runs and two stolen bases over 49 games. • Ty France (heel) could return when first eligible
Mariners’ skipper Scott Servais said Wednesday that Ty France (heel) is progressing nicely and shouldn’t require much longer than the minimum 10 days on the injured list.

Advice: It had been anticipated that the 29-year-old first baseman would be looking at an extended absence when he was diagnosed with a right heel fracture, but the M’s have been very encouraged by how he has progressed thus far. That’s bad news for Tyler Locklear, who has been functioning as the club’s regular first baseman in France’s absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:18 pm

  • Out against lefty
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Carpenter will hit the bench Wednesday while the Pirates bring southpaw Bailey Falter to the hill. With Carpenter taking a seat, Alec Burleson will get a day out of the outfield and serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter while Dylan Carlson steps in as St. Louis' starting right fielder. • Checking out of lineup Wednesday
Tellez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Though he'll take a seat against a right-hander (Sonny Gray), the lefty-hitting Tellez seems to have a firmer grasp on a strong-side platoon role these days while he's begun to heat up at the plate. Over his last six games, Tellez has gone 9-for-19 with a home run, three doubles, two walks, seven RBI and three runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:52 pm
  • Cavan Biggio starts at third base in Dodgers debut
Cavan Biggio will start at third base and bat ninth in his Dodgers’ debut against the Rangers on Wednesday evening.

Advice: It looks like Biggio could see strong-side platoon at-bats at third base — at least until Max Muncy returns from the injured list — as well as being utilized all over the diamond as a super-utility option. The 29-year-old was hitting a miserable .200/.323/.291 with a pair of homers in 131 plate appearances with the Blue Jays this season before getting designated for assignment and ultimately flipped to the Dodgers.
