• Clubs homer off bench
Moore went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in a 6-4 loss to Boston on Thursday.

Advice: Moore began the game on the bench but entered as a pinch hitter for Dominic Canzone in the seventh inning. The move paid off for Seattle, as Moore slammed a 409-foot, two-run shot to center to bring the Mariners to within a run. Moore slashed .378/.511/.595 with two long balls this spring, but he's had contact issues throughout his big-league career and isn't slated for an everyday role this year, so his fantasy outlook is limited. • Reaches thrice, homers
Biggio went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Biggio was excellent from the nine-slot Thursday, picking up his first long ball of the campaign in just his second at-bat. The 29-year-old has hit better than .235 just once in his five-year career and has seen fewer than 340 plate appearances in four straight campaigns, but he could have the opportunity to exceed both of those marks in 2024 if Thursday is any indication. • Marte scores thrice in Opening Day blowout win
Ketel Marte scored three times while going 3-for-5 and also driving in a run in a blowout win Thursday over the Rockies.

Advice: Marte was one of six players to score multiple runs for the Diamondbacks on Thursday in a contest where Arizona scored 16 runs against the woeful Rockies. Fourteen of those runs came in the third inning, and Marte’s RBI unsurprisingly came in that frame with a single that plated Alek Thomas. The Diamondbacks lineup should be among the better groups in the National League, and hitting at the top of that group should allow Marte to be among the better run-scoring options throughout the 2024 season — even when they’re not playing Colorado. • Christopher Morel triples in loss to Texas
Christopher Morel went 2-for-5 with a triple and a run scored in an extra-inning loss Thursday to the Rangers.

Advice: Morel hit cleanup on Thursday while lining up as the designated hitter, and he came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Dansby Swanson in the second inning. It’s a nice start to the year for the 24-year-old, who is coming off a 2023 season where he swatted 26 homers with an .821 OPS over 107 games and 388 at-bats. It’s unlikely he’ll help in the average and steals categories, but Morel could be a fantasy factor because of his power and spot in the Cubs’ lineup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:30 pm
  • Paces offense on Opening Day
Morel went 2-for-5 with a triple and a run scored in Thursday's 4-3, 10-inning loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Morel had a good game but almost had a great game, as he narrowly missed a grand slam on a long foul ball in the top of the 10th inning with the contest tied 3-3. The 24-year-old batted cleanup and he should have the opportunity to post strong numbers this season from the middle of Chicago's lineup, particularly in the power department. • Opens in outfield
Steer started in left field and went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 8-2 win over the Nationals on Opening Day.

Advice: Steer was part of a productive lower-half of the order, which combined to go 8-for-19 and was responsible for all eight runs and RBI. He qualifies at multiple positions, but the offseason plan was to use him primarily in the outfield. Steer led the team in home runs (23) and RBI (86) last season while stealing a fantasy-helpful 15 bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:27 pm

  • Smacks Opening Day homer
Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and an additional run scored in Thursday's 5-4 win over Houston.

Advice: Cabrera singled in the fifth inning before coming around to score when Anthony Rizzo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The 25-year-old Cabrera then tied the game 4-4 with a solo homer off Rafael Montero in the sixth, pulling a two-strike slider into the right field bleachers. The switch-hitting Cabrera hit just five home runs in 115 games last season while slashing .211/.275/.299. He figures to see an expanded role due to DJ LeMahieu (foot) being sidelined, though the newly acquired Jon Berti figures to be in the mix at third as well. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:26 pm

  • Brewers recall Oliver Dunn from Triple-A
Brewers recalled 2B Oliver Dunn from Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Dunn put together a breakout performance in the Arizona Fall League, which earned him a spot on Milwaukee’s 40-man roster last November following a trade from the Phillies. The 26-year-old will be on the Brewers’ Opening Day roster when they kick off the season on Friday in New York against the Mets. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:22 pm

  • Starts at second base
India started at second base and batted leadoff in Thursday's 8-2 win over Washington on Opening Day. He went 1-for-4 with a walk.

Advice: The Reds' planned second baseman, Matt McLain, injured his shoulder during spring training and underwent surgery Tuesday. He was placed on the 60-day injured list Thursday, which means India, who was training for a utility role, is expected to have a steady home for the first two months of the season.
