Advice: Santander hit his 22nd homer of the season with a solo shot off Michael Lorenzen in the second. The 29-year-old outfielder doubled in a run in the seventh to extend the Baltimore lead to 6-4 and also gave Santander 55 RBI on the season. Jarren Duran swats homer in blowout defeatJarren Duran hit a solo homer in a blowout loss to the Padres on Saturday.
Advice: Duran took Michael King deep in what ended up being the only run of the game for the Red Sox in the sixth inning. It also came with Boston trailing 10-0, but still counts just the same. Manny Machado homers twice in rout of Red SoxManny Machado homered twice and drove in five runs in an 11-1 blowout victory over the Red Sox on Saturday.
Advice: Machado blasted both homers off Tanner Houck, a three-run shot in the fifth and a two-run blast in the second. It’s the first multi-homer game for the 31-year-old in 2024, but five of his 10 homers have come thus far in the month of June. Machado’s also picked up multiple hits in his last three games and six times since June 19, and appears to be righting the ship after a disappointing first two-plus months of the campaign. Advice: Winker was battling knee problems after getting his foot caught in the outfield grass during the first inning of Friday's game, but he appears to be in good enough shape to play Saturday. The 30-year-old has slashed .260/.377/.412 through 302 plate appearances this season, though he may see limited work in the outfield after top prospect James Wood officially joins the Nationals for his MLB debut Monday. Advice: Winker is back in left field and batting third for Saturday’s showdown after suffering a right knee contusion during the bottom of the first inning of Friday’s game when he attempted to catch a fly ball near the left-field wall. His right cleat got caught in the turf, causing him to stumble and fall into the wall, which led to his exit from the contest. Advice: Wong made his first start since coming off the paternity list Thursday and extended a hit streak to 14 games (18-for-52, .346). Three months into the season and Wong is maintaining a .328 average, nearly 100 points higher than his career average entering 2024 (.232). Red Sox hitting coach Pete Fatse credits Wong being more direct with his swing path which has led to more zone contact, per Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe.
