      Wednesday’s game between the Blue Jays and Red Sox in Boston was suspended due to rain.

      Advice: There hadn’t been any rain in the forecast, but a storm popped up early in the second inning and washed out any chances of the two sides getting this game in. The game will resume on August 26 in the top half of the second inning, with the Blue Jays having a runner at first base with one out.       Advice: It’s been a tough season for Jones on the heels of last year’s unexpected breakthrough campaign, but he’s starting to show some signs of life recently, hitting .279 (12-for-43) with one homer and one steal over his last 15 games.       Daulton Varsho (back) was held out of the Blue Jays’ starting lineup once again for Wednesday’s battle against the Red Sox.

      Advice: It’s the fourth straight game that the 27-year-old slugger has missed due to the lingering back issue.       Advice: He did get charged with two errors, but Guerrero made up for his fielding gaffes with two-run doubles in the third and fourth innings.       Contreras went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored during Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

      Advice: Contreras got the Brewers on the board in the third inning, swatting a leadoff double before being driven in on a two-out single by Jackson Chourio. Tuesday's contest marked Contreras' first multi-hit game since June 16. While the catcher's power numbers are down overall, he's one stolen base away from matching his career high of six and is on pace for a career-best strikeout rate at 19.3 percent.       Gore (6-7) allowed five runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one over five innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Padres.

      Advice: Gore struggled against the team that drafted him, as the Padres put up multiple runs in the first and fifth innings. He may have been rattled by the two teams clearing the benches in the first inning after Keibert Ruiz and Jurickson Profar exchanged words -- Gore's next pitch hit Profar on the back foot, and the one after that was crushed by Manny Machado for a two-run homer. The southpaw has lost three of his five starts in June, giving up 18 runs (17 earned) over 26.1 innings. He's now at a 3.81 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 99:28 K:BB through 85 innings across 16 starts on the year. Gore is projected to make his next start at home versus the Mets.       MacKenzie Gore surrendered five runs in five innings Tuesday in a loss to the Padres.

      Advice: Gore was lucky not to be tossed at the beginning of this one, as he hit Jurickson Profar in the back leg with a pitch right after warnings were issued because of some thoroughly unnecessary jawing and a benches-clearing incident. Gore’s pitch, though, didn’t seem to be intentional. It did lead to an ejection anyway, as Padres manager Mike Shildt was ejected for taking issue with Gore not being tossed.
