      Josh Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Royals on Sunday.

      Advice: Smith took Sam Long deep 383 feet at 102.2 mph for his seventh home run on the season. The 26-year-old has been brilliant filling in for Josh Jung, hitting .303/.391/.478 on the year. Considering his ability to play all over the field, he should be able to fight for consistent playing time even when Jung returns. Provided he keeps hitting like this.       Alex Bregman went 4-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in an 8-1 win over the Orioles on Sunday.

      Advice: Bregman had two doubles and two singles on the day but also came away with zero RBI. Still, the consistent contact is nice to see, and the veteran is now 28-for-77 in 19 games in June for a .364 batting average.       Smith started at third base and went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-0 win over Kansas City.

      Advice: Smith made a second consecutive start in the field after serving as a designated hitter for a pair of games. He had been dealing with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss four games before returning as the DH. Now that he's back in the field, the question becomes how long he will be there. Third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) rejoined the team Friday and will take live batting practice Tuesday. If all goes well, Jung could be activated off the 60-day injured list afterward. The Rangers would like to keep Smith's bat in the lineup; he's batting .304/.393/.469 over a career-high 259 plate appearances.       Advice: The 27-year-old slugger has flipped the switch in June. Riley has at least one extra-base hit in six of his last seven games, batting a blistering .545 (12-for-22) over that stretch with four doubles, four homers, nine runs and nine RBI.
