    • Miranda goes 4-for-4, has hits in 10 straight AB
Jose Miranda finished 4-for-4 with a homer, a double and three runs scored Friday against the Astros.

Advice: Incredibly, the Twins pinch-hit for Miranda in the ninth, even though he had delivered hits in 10 consecutive at-bats, and it worked, as Austin Martin singled off Luis Contreras. Still, the Twins went on to lose anyway, Miranda is 25-for-50 in his last 13 games, raising his average from .277 to .324 and his OPS from .778 to .893. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

    • No-decision in Milwaukee debut
Civale allowed four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers.

Advice: Civale received a tough assignment in his first start as a Brewer, and he didn't do particularly well. Will Smith tagged him for two solo shots and Miguel Vargas added a two-run home run, though Civale exited the game in line for the win before the Brewers' bullpen blew the lead. The three homers are a season high for the right-hander, and that could be a problem that crops up more since Milwaukee's American Family Field is more prone to homers than his old home park, Tropicana Field. Civale is at a 5.18 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 92:30 K:BB through 92 innings over 18 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Pirates. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago
    • Ceddanne Rafaela homers in 10th to lead Red Sox
After Masataka Yoshida’s homer tied it in the ninth, Ceddanne Rafaela hit a two-run homer in the 10th to propel the Red Sox past the Yankees 5-3 on Friday.

Advice: Yoshida hit a game-tying homer off Clay Holmes, and Rafaela followed with a go-ahead blast off Tommy Kahnle in the 10th. It was Rafaela’s 10th homer, which is impressive for a 23-year-old with such middling exit velocity numbers. Better plate discipline would be nice, but since Rafaela has proved adept at shortstop and in center field, he seems like a long to become a long-term regular. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:58 pm

    • Goes deep again Friday
Pederson went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Friday's 10-8 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Pederson has gone 5-for-13 with three homers and four RBI over his first four games in July. The slugger is up to 13 long balls, 38 RBI, 34 runs scored and four stolen bases across 250 plate appearances this season. He's managed to hit for both average (.289) and power (.531 slugging percentage), though he's typically had trouble maintaining the former over the course of a full season. • Aaron Civale allows three homers in debut with MIL
Aaron Civale was charged for four runs in five innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: This was Civale’s first start as a member of the Brew Crew, and it’s fair to say it was a mixed bag. He gave up three homers — including two of the three that Will Smith hit in the game — but he also struck out eight and allowed only two other hits in the contest. The former Guardian and Ray has not shown any consistency in 2024, and Saturday was a pretty good example of the risks that come with using him as a fantasy option, especially against a team as good as the Dodgers. A (potentially) easier test comes next week against the Pirates. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:45 pm
    • Sets franchise record in loss
Miranda went 4-for-4 with a homer, a double, two RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 13-12 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Miranda came a triple shy of the cycle and set a Twins franchise record in the seventh inning by tallying his 10th consecutive plate appearance with a hit. The 26-year-old launched a 414-foot solo shot off Shawn Dubin earlier in the game for his ninth homer of the season. Miranda now sports a nine-game hit streak over which he's batted an absurd .559 (19-for-34) with seven extra base hits, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:57 pm

    • Max Fried can’t stop Phillies’ bats
Max Fried allowed 11 hits and five earned runs in six innings of work on Friday against the Phillies. He struck out four and walked one in a loss.

Advice: This was a pivotal game for the Braves as they try to claw their way back into the NL East race and Fried simply did not have it. He lived in the heart of the zone and the Phillies made him pay time and time again. They had base runners in five out of six innings and looked incredibly comfortable in the box all night. Fried was fortunate to get through this start with only five earned runs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm

    • Coughs up five runs
Fried (7-4) allowed five runs on 11 hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Phillies.

Advice: Fried worked through three scoreless frames before beginning to unravel. He gave up three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth. Of the five runs he allowed, four came via a pair of two-run shots from Trea Turner. Fried had given up just three runs over his previous three starts but saw his season ERA jump from 2.91 to 3.18 after Friday's hiccup. His next start is lined up to be in Arizona. • Allows seven runs in loss
Severino (5-3) took the loss against the Pirates on Friday, allowing seven runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Severino surrendered four runs on three homers between the fourth and fifth innings. He was pulled after loading the bases to open the seventh, and all three of those runners scored on a grand slam after his departure. Severino yielded nine hard-hit balls Friday and has allowed six long balls and 17 earned runs over his past four outings. On the season, the 30-year-old owns a 3.83 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 77:34 K:BB over 103.1 innings. He lines up for a home matchup with the Nationals next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:03 pm
