    • Falls short of quality start
Sale came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Brewers, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The veteran southpaw wasn't quite efficient enough to record his 12th quality start of the season or his 14th win, getting the hook after 100 pitches (68 strikes) with the score still tied 2-2. Sale did extend his streak of starts allowing two runs or less to nine -- since a rough outing against the A's on June 1, he's delivered a 2.28 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 73:18 K:BB over his last 55.1 innings. Sale will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week in a rematch with Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Today, 6:27 pm
    • Max Muncy (oblique) feeling much improved
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Max Muncy (oblique) is finally feeling much improved.

Advice: Muncy received a chiropractic adjustment involving his ribs that appears to have made a major difference in how he is feeling. How exactly that relates to a timeline for his return is still anyone’s guess though and given the setbacks he has already experienced along the way it’s probably still a moving target. Muncy has been shelved since the middle of May due to his oblique strain. Rotoworld Today, 4:11 pm

    • Set to resume swinging
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Muncy (oblique) "crossed a hurdle" after visiting a chiropractor and is scheduled to start taking swings Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 33-year-old has been sidelined since mid-May due to the oblique strain, as his rehab program has been stalled multiple times due to lingering soreness. Muncy may have now finally turned a corner, but he'll likely need to ramp up his baseball work with no further issues to have a chance of rejoining the Dodgers in August. Rotowire.com Today, 4:10 pm

    • Chris Sale whiffs six on Wednesday in no-decision
Chris Sale yielded two runs over 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Brewers.

Advice: It wasn’t his most dominant performance of the season as Sale struck out six and also handed out three free passes. The Brewers got to him early for a pair of first-inning runs courtesy of run-scoring single from Gary Sánchez and a sacrifice fly by Blake Perkins. He shut down Milwaukee afterwards, putting Atlanta in position to rally in the late innings. He generated 12 swinging strikes and finished with a 33 percent CSW. The 35-year-old southpaw will look to keep his resurgent campaign going on Tuesday in a rematch against the Brewers at Truist Park. Rotoworld Today, 2:23 pm
    • Resting up Wednesday
Higashioka is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Higashioka will pick up some rest after he started at catcher in each of the Friars' last three games. Luis Campusano will step in for Higashioka behind the plate while batting eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 2:10 pm
    • Noelvi Marte not in Reds lineup on Wednesday
Noelvi Marte is not in the Reds’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s tilt against the Cubs.

Advice: It appears to be nothing more than a routine day off for the dynamic 22-year-old infielder. Santiago Espinal will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat eighth against Kyle Hendricks and the Cubs on Wednesday evening in Cincinnati. Rotoworld Today, 1:38 pm

    • Justin Verlander faced live hitters on Tuesday
Justin Verlander (neck) faced live hitters at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday.

Advice: The 41-year-old hurler came out of the session feeling good but noted that his next step could be determined by how he feels when waking up on Wednesday. Given the fact that he has been sidelined since the middle of June, it seems highly likely that he’ll require at least one minor league rehab start before rejoining the Astros’ rotation. • Moving to bench Wednesday
Marte is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Now more than a month removed from returning to the Cincinnati lineup June 27 after completing his 80-game suspension to begin the season, Marte still has yet to get going at the plate. He enters Wednesday's contest with a .177/.223/.281 slash line and a 31.1 percent strikeout rate over 103 plate appearances. The Reds still seem committed to Marte as their everyday third baseman, but with the 22-year-old hitting the bench for the second time in the last four games, his leash may be getting shorter. • Resting against lefty
Pederson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Pederson will hit the bench for a third straight game, with all of those absences coming against southpaws. The 32-year-old continues to be deployed as a strict platoon player, but he's raked against righties this season, slashing .286/.387/.532 (155 wRC+) in those matchups. Rotowire.com Today, 11:48 am
