    • Nabs quality start in no-decision
Lopez allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over six innings in a no-decision against Washington on Thursday.

Advice: Lopez held the Nationals scoreless until the sixth inning, when CJ Abrams and Lane Thomas tagged him for back-to-back solo homers. Lopez looked like he could be on the ropes when the following two batters singled, but the right-handed hurler got out of the jam without another run scoring. That allowed him to register his seventh quality start in what has been a career-best campaign. Lopez ranks third among qualified starters with a 1.85 ERA through 63.1 innings on the season. • Lacks command in loss
Gray (7-4) allowed three runs on two hits and four walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: The four walks were a season high for Gray, and he also uncorked two wild pitches, one of which allowed a run to score in the fifth inning. Gray's control issues have manifested with five straight starts where he's allowed multiple walks, and he's failed to complete six innings in any of his last four outings. The right-hander is now at a 3.21 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 82:19 K:BB over through 61.2 innings over 11 starts this season. Gray is projected to make his next start at home versus the Pirates. • Gray allows three in loss Thursday
Sonny Gray allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Gray gave up two hits, walked four and struck out five. It was an uneven start for Gray, who threw 89 pitches. He had two wild pitches, one of which allowed a run to score. Gray also had a pitch clock violation. While his ERA increased to 3.21 on the year, his xFIP is much lower at 2.64. The 34-year-old right-hander will look to bounce back against the Pirates at home next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:51 pm

    • Blasts 12th home run
Morel went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Reds.

Advice: Morel can be streaky with his power production, but he appears to be locked in right now, as he has two home runs across his last three games and three bombs in his last seven contests. The surge has pushed him up to 12 long balls for the season. Morel popped 26 home runs last year, and he certainly could reach or surpass that figure in 2024 if he stays healthy. • Morel hits 12th home run in loss Thursday
Christopher Morel went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run against the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was Morel’s 12th of the year. He’s hitting just .205 on the season, but his .212 BABIP is well below his career .287 BABIP. His 21 percent strikeout percentage is much improved from his career 29 percent strikeout percentage. Even if he goes back to striking out more, his average should improve over the rest of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:54 pm

    • Nick Gonzales hits fourth homer Thursday in loss
Nick Gonzales went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Thursday in the Pirates’ loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Gonzales took Dodgers starter Walker Buehler deep in the early stages of the contest for his fourth long ball of the season. The 25-year-old infielder has been an unexpected revelation for Pittsburgh, batting .315 (28-for-89) with four homers and two steals in 24 games since arriving back in the majors last month. • Lopez allows two in no-decision Thursday
Reynoldo Lopez allowed two runs in six innings and got a no-decision in the Braves’ 5-2 victory over the Nationals on Thursday.

Advice: Lopez gave up six hits, walked one and struck out seven. CJ Abrams and Lane Thomas hit back-to-back home runs off him in the sixth inning. The home runs Lopez allowed were his third and fourth of the season (0.57 HR/9). Only Ranger Suarez and Luis Gil have a lower ERA than Lopez’ 1.85 (min. 50 innings), though his xFIP is significantly higher at 3.71. He has eight quality starts but he’s only won three of his 11 starts this year. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Orioles on the road next week.

    • Strikes out seven in no-decision
Bibee allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk over five innings in a no-decision Thursday against the Royals. He struck out seven.

Advice: Bibee allowed just one unearned run through his first five innings Thursday, though he'd be charged with two runs in the sixth after allowing the first two batters to reach. Still, it was another decent effort from the 25-year-old right-hander -- Bibee now has seven strikeouts in back-to-back outings while pitching to a 2.12 ERA over his last five starts. Overall, he's 4-1 on the year with a 3.73 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 76:19 K:BB through 70 innings. Bibee's currently in line for a road matchup with the Reds in his next outing. • Christopher Morel in Thursday’s lineup vs. Reds
Christopher Morel (foot) is in the lineup for Thursday’s showdown against the Reds.

Advice: It’s a positive sign that Morel is back in the lineup without missing any time after making an early exit from Wednesday’s contest against the White Sos after fouling a ball off his left foot. The 24-year-old has been a mainstay in the heart of Chicago’s lineup supplying 11 homers and six steals through 61 contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:54 pm
