    • Back in lineup
Suarez started at third base and went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Thursday's 11-1 win over the Angels. He was also hit by a pitch.

Advice: Suarez returned to the lineup after being replaced at the hot corner by Blaze Alexander the previous day. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Alexander will be given more opportunities at third with Suarez (.195/.267/.309) mired in a season-long slump. Rotowire.com 27 minutes ago

    • Buxton has three hits, two RBI in win Thursday
Byron Buxton went 3-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBI against the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Buxton is now 9-for-23 (.391) with a home run and five RBI in his last six games. It’s been a good week for Buxton, who has looked like a shell of himself for most of the season. His average is up to .244 with four home runs and a .688 OPS on the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 pm

    • Ty France (heel) likely to return next week
Ty France (heel) has progressed to hitting without any limitations.

Advice: France is pain-free at the moment and appears poised to return early next week when first eligible to be activated from the injured list. The big question for fantasy managers is whether top prospect Tyler Locklear will be shipped out to the minors once he’s ready to return. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:12 pm

    • Tommy Pham (ankle) likely to return on Friday
Tommy Pham (ankle) is expected to return for Friday’s series opener against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Pham is technically already there since he’s been playing in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League over the last few days. The 36-year-old outfielder has been on the shelf since early June with a left ankle sprain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:50 pm

    • Blows fourth save Thursday
Holmes (1-2) allowed two runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning, taking the loss and a blown save in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Royals.

Advice: Holmes was one out away from his 20th save of the season before serving up a two-run double to Maikel Garcia. The 31-year-old closer had gone nine straight appearances without allowing a run and still carries an impressive 1.80 ERA for the season. As the ninth-inning man for the club with the most wins in MLB, he remains one of the safest options at the position with his 19 saves being tied for third most this season. • Nestor Cortes solid for seven against Royals
Nestor Cortes pitched seven innings of two-run ball in a no-decision against the Royals on Thursday.

Advice: Cortes turned in his best start in weeks, but he was still in line for the loss when he left. The Yankees offense did let him off the hook, but the Bombers still lost the game to fall to 6-9 in Cortes’s starts. It’s a bizarre figure, given that Cortes has been pretty good with his 3.59 ERA and the team is 43-13 when anyone else starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:27 pm
    • Clay Holmes takes blown save, loss in ninth
Clay Holmes took a blown save and a loss after giving up two runs and three hits in the ninth Thursday against the Royals.

Advice: Holmes made his own trouble by botching the play at first base on the soft infield single that started the ninth. Another single followed, and then Maikel Garcia ended the game with a double that stayed just fair down the right field line. It went as Holmes’ fourth blown save, even though this was only the second time in 31 appearances this season that he’s allowed an earned run. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:26 pm
    • Coming off injured list Friday
Pham (ankle) will be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game in Arizona, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Pham played in three rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League this week, going 3-for-11 with a home run. He's been out for most of this month with a sprained left ankle. Pham had been seeing most of his starts in center field for the White Sox prior to getting hurt, but with Luis Robert now back from the injured list, Pham should shift over to right field. • Goes seven strong in no-decision
Cortes allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two over seven innings during Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Royals. He didn't factor in the decision.

Advice: Cortes ran into some trouble in the fourth inning with two runs allowed but otherwise kept Kansas City off the board, pitching deep into yet another start. This was his fifth outing this season of seven or more innings, which is tied for the second most in the American League. The two strikeouts tied for a season low, and the veteran lefty has now gone four straight starts without a win. He will take a 3.59 ERA into his next start, which lines up to come against the Orioles next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:56 pm
