    • Crushed in loss
Nola (8-3) took the loss to the Red Sox on Thursday, allowing eight runs on 11 hits and two walks with two strikeouts over 3.2 innings.

Advice: Nola had two disastrous innings, allowing four runs in both the second and fourth. The fourth inning was especially rough, as he surrendered a three-run homer to Tyler O'Neill and was unable to complete the frame. According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the eight earned runs allowed by Nola tied a career high, and his season ERA climbed from 2.77 to 3.48. Despite the rise in ERA, Nola had previously rattled off five consecutive quality starts and owns a 1.08 WHIP and 78:24 K:BB in 14 outings. He will look to rebound next Tuesday in a home matchup with the Padres. Rotowire.com Today, 7:42 pm

    • Logs another quality start in win
Houck (7-5) earned the win against the Phillies on Thursday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks with five strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Houck tossed three scoreless innings then loaded the bases and surrendered a three-run double to Kyle Schwarber in a rough fourth. He rebounded with two more scoreless frames to earn his fifth straight quality start and received plenty of offensive support, as the Red Sox tagged Aaron Nola for eight runs. Houck has now allowed three or fewer earned runs in 13 of 14 starts and has been one of baseball's biggest breakouts so far in 2024. On the season, he owns a 2.08 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 89:15 K:BB in 91 innings and lines up to start next Tuesday against the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Today, 7:40 pm
    • Houck gets seventh win against Phillies Thursday
Tanner Houck allowed three runs in six innings and got the win in the Red Sox’ 9-3 victory over the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Houck gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out five. The win was his seventh of the season. Houck has allowed more than three earned runs in a start only once in 14 starts this year. His ERA is now 2.08 on the season. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face the Blue Jays on the road next week.

    • Burger blasts sixth home run Thursday
Jake Burger went 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run against the Mets on Thursday.

Advice: Burger’s home run was just his sixth of the season in 47 games after homering 34 times in 141 games last year. His .128 ISO isn’t even half of the .268 ISO he had last year. On the bright side, he’s 21-for-64 (.328) with three home runs in his last 16 games to bring his average up to .222. Rotoworld Today, 7:00 pm

    • Strikes out 11 in win
Bradley (2-4) earned the win against the Cubs on Thursday, allowing two (unearned) runs on three hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts over seven innings.

Advice: Bradley was dominant other than the fifth inning, when the Cubs scored two unearned runs on back-to-back bunts. This was arguably the best start of Bradley's young career, as he registered 17 swinging strikes on 104 pitches and tied a career-high with 11 strikeouts. While Bradley has been up-and-down in 2024, Thursday's effort showed his immense potential when he has his best stuff. On the season, he owns a 4.23 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 50:12 K:BB in 38.1 innings and lines up to start next Wednesday against the Twins. Rotowire.com Today, 6:54 pm

    • Taj Bradley strikes out 11 in victory over Cubs
Taj Bradley matched a career-high with 11 strikeouts and allowed two runs (zero earned) over seven innings on Thursday in a win over the Cubs.

Advice: Bradley gave up three hits, walked two over seven frames to pick up his second of the season through seven starts. His previous season-high for strikeouts was 10, but he also allowed five runs in that start. While Bradley’s ERA is 4.23 this year, his xFIP is significantly lower at 3.10. There should be more starts like this in his future. The 23-year-old right-hander is set to face the Twins on the road next week. Rotoworld Today, 6:13 pm

    • Alec Marsh takes no-no into seventh versus Yankees
Alec Marsh allowed only a single over seven scoreless innings Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Marsh, who came into the day having given up 14 earned runs in his previous three starts, took a no-hitter into the seventh before giving up a single to Juan Soto. He ended up with seven strikeouts and two walks. Alas, he didn’t factor into the decision after John Schreiber blew a two-run lead in the eighth. Rotoworld Today, 2:27 pm

    • Aaron Judge fans four times, loses on-base streak
Aaron Judge struck out all four times up versus the Royals on Thursday to snap a 37-game on-base streak.

Advice: It was all quiet from the Yankees before the game, but we wonder if something is up with Judge, who was put at DH today even though he just had Monday off and it meant sitting Giancarlo Stanton after he’d homered the previous two days. It was the third golden sombrero of the year for Judge. Rotoworld Today, 2:26 pm
