    • Goes yard in win
Perez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 6-0 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Perez put a bow on the Royals' six-run fifth inning with the team's lone extra-base hit of the contest. While his hot start to the season was erased when he batted .194 in June, Perez has bounced back to hit a more respectable .261 (18-for-69) over 18 contests in July. The catcher is up to 19 homers, 70 RBI, 42 runs scored, 16 doubles and a .278/.337/.474 slash line through 101 games this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:41 pm

    • Opens scoring in loss
Westburg went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Westburg took Adam Mazur deep in the second inning to open the scoring. It's been a bit of a streaky month for Westburg -- he's batting .205 (16-for-78) with four homers, six RBI and a 3:16 BB:K over 19 contests in July. The infielder is at a .267/.314/.491 slash line with 17 homers, 54 RBI, 51 runs scored and six stolen bases through 96 games overall. His playing time isn't in danger yet, but an extended slump by Westburg could open the door for Connor Norby or Ramon Urias to claim a larger role. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:32 pm

    • Earns win in return
Blackburn (4-2) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings to earn the win Friday over the Angels.

Advice: Blackburn's return from a stress reaction in his right foot got off to a rough start -- he allowed two-run home runs to Taylor Ward and Nolan Schanuel in the first inning. Manager Mark Kotsay let Blackburn work through the issues, and the right-hander did well to settle in, finishing with 72 pitches (41 strikes). He's now at a 4.41 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 38:14 K:BB through 51 innings over nine starts this season. Blackburn may continue to have modest workload restrictions over his next one or two starts. He's projected for a challenging home outing against the Dodgers next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:40 pm
    • Blackburn allows four, gets win in return
Paul Blackburn picked up the win despite allowing four runs in five innings of work Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Blackburn made his right to the rotation after missing over two months with a stress reaction in his foot. He allowed two homers among his five hits while a walk and two strikeouts. A very meh start for a very meh starter. Blackburn returns to the mound Friday against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm
    • Gives up four runs in no-decision
Heaney didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Blue Jays, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Most of the damage against Heaney came early Friday, as Toronto scored three times on a pair of doubles in the first inning. It's the first time since April 25 that Heaney's been charged with more than three earned runs in a start -- he'd posted a 2.81 ERA in 15 outings prior to Friday. Overall, the left-hander is 4-10 this year with a 3.77 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 105:30 K:BB across 105 innings. Heaney's currently in line to face the Cardinals on the road in his next start, barring the Rangers don't make a move before next week's trade deadline. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:09 pm

    • Andrew Heaney uneven across five innings
Andrew Heaney allowed seven hits and four runs in five innings of work on Friday against the Blue Jays. He struck out four and walked one in a no-decision.

Advice: Heaney struggled to put right-handed batters away in this one with a good feel for his changeup. Toronto put at least one runner on base in four of Heaney’s five innings and nothing felt easy for him. This broke a streak of five straight starts in which he allowed two or fewer runs. • Jordan Westburg goes deep in loss to Padres
Jordan Westburg homered, drew a walk and scored a pair of runs on Friday night as the Orioles fell to the Padres.

Advice: Westburg opened the scoring in the contest with his 406-foot solo shot off of Adam Mazur in the second inning. He also drew a walk and scored on a ground out off the bat of Ryan Mountcastle in the fourth inning. The 25-year-old infielder finished the night 1-for-3 and is now hitting .267/.314/.491 with 17 homers and 54 RBI on the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:05 pm

    • Confident in mid-August return
Harris (hamstring) said Friday that he is confident that he will be able to return by Aug. 14, which is when he is eligible to reinstated from the 60-day injured list, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Harris was transferred to the 60-day IL on Wednesday due to his slow rehab progress for his strained left hamstring. He's been on the injured list since June 15, and while he hasn't been cleared to do full sprints, he has been running in short bursts, per David O'Brien of The Athletic. Prior to his injury, Harris was slashing .250/.295/.358 with eight stolen bases, five home runs and 20 RBI across 278 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:28 pm

    • Paul Blackburn (foot) activated for Friday start
Athletics activated RHP Paul Blackburn from the 60-day injured list.

Advice: He’ll rejoin the Athletics’ rotation on Friday night against the Angels. It’s the second time in two days that the A’s have bolstered their rotation with right-handers off the 60-day IL — with Ross Stripling returning on Thursday. Hogan Harris was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:15 pm
