    • Ryan Helsley secures MLB-leading 25th save
      Ryan Helsley fired a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Giants to record his major league-leading 25th save of the season.

      Advice: Helsley was summoned to protect a narrow one-run lead at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama and made things interesting by issuing a leadoff walk to Trenton Brooks and surrendering a two-out single to Patrick Bailey, which put the potential tying run in scoring position. He managed to wriggle out of the jam by striking out Matt Chapman to extinguish the threat. The hard-throwing 29-year-old righty has converted 25 of 26 save chances this season to go along with a sparkling 2.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 38/13 K/BB ratio across 33 innings (33 appearances).     • Highly efficient in win
      Nelson (5-5) earned the win Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits in seven innings against the White Sox. He struck out two.

      Advice: Nelson needed just 70 pitches to complete a highly efficient seven frames, including tossing 10 or fewer pitches in four of his seven completed innings. While he did allow a couple of batters to leave the yard, he never faced a stressful inning as only one other batter made it as far as first base. Nelson likely had more in the tank as he had thrown at least 80 during each of his last eight starts but the bullpen needed just 17 pitches over the final two innings to seal the victory. Nelson has three quality starts over his last four outings, allowing two runs or fewer in each of those three performances.     • Ryne Nelson fires seven strong in win over Nats
      Ryne Nelson worked seven innings while giving up two runs to pick up a win Thursday over the Nationals.

      Advice: Nelson allowed just three hits, and he struck out two while walking no one. He needed just 70 pitches to get through the seven frames, and outside of two solo homers, the 26-year-old pitched admirably. This also makes back-to-back strong starts for Nelson, as he has given up just three runs over those 13 innings. It’s worth pointing out that Washington and the White Sox were his opponents, however.       Smith started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Mets.

      Advice: Smith returned from a hamstring injury Tuesday but has been limited to DH duties in both games, and he's still made an impact with his bat. In the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday, he doubled in a run then scored a game-tying run.       Peralta (5-4) earned the win over the Angels on Wednesday, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out eight over six shutout innings.

      Advice: Peralta gave up six runs over 5.1 innings in his previous start, but he bounced back with one of his best outings of the season. This is the second time he's kept runs off the board through 15 starts this year, and it's his sixth quality start. Peralta is at a 4.06 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 106:29 K:BB through 82 innings. In that seven-start span, he's walked at least three batters four times and hasn't struck out more than five batters in any outing. The southpaw is at a 2.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 63:41 K:BB through 94.1 innings through 15 starts this year. Anderson is projected to make his next start at home versus the Athletics.
