    • Randy Vasquez pitches well in no-decision
Randy Vasquez struck out six while allowing two runs over 6 1/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Friday in a no-decision.

Advice: Vasquez pitched well enough to win. The San Diego bullpen did not. Despite exiting with a 7-2 lead, the relief corps of the Padres would give up six runs and prevent the 25-year-old from qualifying for the W. Still, it was a solid outing, and one where he didn’t show any signs of being slowed by the forearm contusion that knocked him out of last week’s start vs. Boston. A very encouraging effort — despite no decision — from a hurler who has gotten better as the season progresses. Rotoworld 6 minutes ago
    • Steady in no-decision
Vasquez allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six over 6.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Vasquez gave up a two-run home run to Joc Pederson in the first inning, but that was the extent of his damage. The Padres built up a 7-2 lead by the time he left, but the bullpen's meltdown cost Vasquez his chance at the win. This was his third quality start of the year, and he's allowed just three runs over his last 15.1 innings. Overall, Vasquez is at a 4.66 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 38:14 K:BB through 58 innings over 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Mariners, assuming the Padres skip Adam Mazur in the rotation with two off days next week. Rotowire.com 32 minutes ago
    • Secures 14th save
Munoz pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 2-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: This was Munoz's first save since June 18 -- he blew a save June 24, which was his only opportunity over his last five appearances. The right-hander has seen the most high-leverage spots rather than being strictly confined to the ninth inning. He faced the 9-1-2 hitters Friday to earn his 14th save in 16 chances this year. Munoz has added a 1.54 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 43:14 K:BB across 35 innings while adding six holds. With Munoz's usage being more flexible, Ryne Stanek has forced his way into the closer conversation, though the Mariners' recent poor play hasn't led to many save chances for either reliever. • Andrés Muñoz nails down save against Blue Jays
Andrés Muñoz didn’t allow a hit while picking up a save against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Advice: Muñoz got all three outs on the ground. He hasn’t missed bats at the elite level he did the last two years, but he’s been effective regardless with a miniscule 1.56 ERA and 14 saves. Rotoworld Today, 9:13 pm
    • Fills stat sheet in loss
Garcia went 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base in a 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Cardinals on Friday.

Advice: Garcia hit an RBI single in the first inning, a solo home run in the third and another single in the eighth. He later added another base hit and stole second in the 10th frame. The 24-year-old followed up a two-homer game July 3 with his second four-hit effort of the season. While he continues to sit against left-handed pitching, Garcia is hitting .271 with 10 homers, 42 RBI, 29 runs scored and 12 steals in a quietly productive 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 8:29 pm

    • Wins despite command issues
Lorenzen (5-4) allowed a hit and five walks over five shutout innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over the Rays.

Advice: Lorenzen's control was shaky and nearly cost him a scoreless outing when he walked the bases loaded in the fifth inning, but he managed to escape the jam. He's thrown exactly five innings in three straight starts and has walked nine batters over his last two outings. Lorenzen dropped his season ERA to 3.21 with a lackluster 62:40 K:BB through 87 innings. His next start is lined up to be on the road against the Angels. Rotowire.com Today, 8:22 pm
    • Blows save, earns win
Helsley (3-3) earned the win and blew a save against the Nationals on Friday, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk with no strikeouts over two innings.

Advice: Helsley was summoned to protect a 6-5 lead in the 10th inning but allowed the automatic runner to score. He was brought back out with another one-run lead in the eleventh and was able to secure the win in his first multi-inning effort of the season. On the year, the closer leads the league with 31 saves and owns a 2.41 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 47:17 K:BB over 41 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 8:12 pm
    • Snags eighth save
Beeks earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Royals, pitching an inning with one strikeout and allowing two hits.

Advice: The southpaw reliever entered in the ninth and looked to be in danger after he allowed two straight singles to lead off the frame. However, Beeks recovered by retiring the next three batters to work out of the jam, securing his 13th career save. The 30-year-old has collected the last two Colorado saves and produced four straight outings without allowing an earned run over 5.1 innings. He now sports a 4.09 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 34:17 K:BB across 44 innings this season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:02 pm

    • Ozzie Albies with three hits, homer in loss
Ozzie Albies went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and three runs scored on Friday against the Phillies.

Advice: Albies was part of every Braves’ scoring play in this one as he came around to score on both Austin Riley and Marcell Ozuna’s home runs while contributing a solo shot of his own. He’s begun heating up of late and is riding an eight-game hitting streak. Rotoworld Today, 7:49 pm
