      Willson Contreras (forearm) progressed to throwing and catching on Thursday at Busch Stadium.

      Advice: Contreras is making rapid progress in his recovery from surgery to repair a fractured left forearm and there’s optimism that he’ll be ready to return earlier than originally anticipated. The 32-year-old backstop wasn’t expected back until sometime around the All-Star break, but it’s looking like he could return before the end of the month, barring any setbacks. There should be some clarity on his timeline once he undergoes a CT scan on Friday to determine whether he’ll be cleared to resume hitting. Rotoworld Thursday, 3:15 pm

      Contreras (forearm) was throwing, catching and running on the field prior to Thursday's game against the Rockies, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Contreras has been participating in all three activities since the Cardinals' last stretch of road games. Freeman's other numbers are mostly down so far this season as well, but he's still been quite productive with a .294/.397/.476 slash line, seven homers, 17 doubles, 35 RBI and and 36 runs through 63 contests.       Advice: Volpe was responsible for one-third of the Yankees' nine hits in the victory, and he scored twice from atop the team's lineup. It was the fifth time this season the second-year shortstop has collected three or more hits in a game. Volpe had a 21-game hitting streak snapped May 30, but he's picked things right up since then, building a five-game hitting streak during which he's batted .364 (8-for-22).       Anthony Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of runs scored as the Yankees topped the Twins on Wednesday evening in New York.

      Advice: Volpe led off the home half of the first inning with a single and came around to score the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Aaron Judge. He also singled in the fifth inning and scored on Aaron Judge’s three-run triple. Volpe then smacked a three-bagger of his own in the eighth inning, but the Bombers couldn’t cash him in.       Naylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Royals.

      Advice: Naylor was part of the Guardians' comeback push -- his fourth-inning homer cut the deficit to 5-3. After being one of the team's hottest hitters in April, the first baseman has hit .178 with a .719 OPS since the start of May. Naylor's power is still coming through with 16 homers, a .500 slugging percentage and a .271 ISO. He hasn't had a pronounced issue with strikeouts either, fanning at just a 16.2 percent rate while walking at a career-best 10.3 percent clip.       Rengifo went 2-for-3 with a walk, a steal and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

      Advice: Rengifo plated the Angels' first run with a base hit in the third and wound up being stranded on second after notching his 14th steal and second in as many games.
