    • Bryse Wilson gives up four runs in no-decision
Bryse Wilson allowed four runs -- two earned -- with one strikeout over four innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Wilson worked a clean first inning, then gave up a solo homer to Ian Happ in the second. Happ would reach base once again in the fourth and advanced to third on a balk before a groundout brought him in to score the second run. An error and a base hit to start the fifth chased Wilson from the game with two runners on and no outs at 82 pitches. While both inherited runners would score, on two runs on the day were earned. The 26-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.00 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and a 39/19 K/BB ratio across 48 innings. He’s set to take on the Phillies in Philadelphia on Monday. • Limited workload Wednesday
Paxton came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Mets, giving up two hits over three scoreless innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Advice: The veteran lefty was pitching on just four days' rest, and per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, was told prior to the outing that his workload would be limited. Paxton wound up tossing exactly 50 pitches (29 strikes), as the Dodgers effectively went with a bullpen day and used six relievers after he left the mound. Paxton will take a 3.29 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 31:28 K:BB through 52 innings into his next outing -- when he should see a more usual workload in a road start against the Pirates. • Big Maple spins three frames in abbreviated outing
James Paxton tallied three strikeouts over three shutout innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Mets.

Advice: It was an abbreviated outing for Paxton on Wednesday afternoon at Citi Field as the veteran lefty took the ball on four days rest for the first time this season and was lifted after just 50 pitches (29 strikes). The 35-year-old veteran southpaw will take the ball next Wednesday against the Pirates at PNC Park. Rotoworld Wednesday, 5:27 pm

    • Decent in no-decision
Cortes allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four without walking a batter over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Cortes allowed multiple runs for the first time in three starts, but it was still a passable outing for the southpaw. He allowed a total of nine runs (eight earned) over 29 innings across five starts in May while adding a 30:8 K:BB in that span. Cortes is at a 3.30 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 67:15 K:BB through 71 innings over 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in San Francisco. • Nestor Cortes holds Angels to two runs over 5 1/3
Nestor Cortes was uninvolved in the decision Tuesday after allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Angels.

Advice: The key for Cortes this season is simply to allow zero earned runs. He’s 3-0 when that happens and 0-4 the rest of the time. It’s something he’ll just have to work on prior to his start against the Giants on Sunday. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:28 pm

    • Limits damage in loss
Ragans (4-4) took the loss Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing three runs on nine hits and a walk across five innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Ragans stranded a runner in all five of his innings pitched and had a difficult time getting through a Twins lineup that featured seven righties and a pair of switch hitters. The southpaw relied heavily on his ability to miss bats, inducing 14 whiffs and generating seven or more strikeouts for the fifth time in his last six starts. Ragans will close out his two-start week with a home outing against the Padres on Sunday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:30 pm

    • Cole Ragans allows three earned runs in loss
Cole Ragans allowed nine hits and three earned runs over five innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

Advice: Ragans ran into trouble in the first inning when he allowed back-to-back hits to his first two batters faced, only to see both players score on a Jose Miranda single a few batters later. Ragans would allow another run in the fourth on a Manuel Margot double, as the left was hit around for much of the evening. His nine hits allowed tied for the second-most he’s allowed on the season, as Ragans has struggled at times to limit base runners despite a solid 3.49 ERA. He walked 30 batters while walking eight this month and is scheduled to make his next start on Sunday against the Padres. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:36 pm

    • Brayan Bello strikes out seven in win over Orioles
Brayan Bello allowed three runs on five hits in five innings in a win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

Advice: The right-hander struck out seven and walked two on the evening. Bello had a rough first inning, allowing all three runs on three hits, but he bounced back exceptionally well and had his entire arsenal working, registering a 38 percent whiff rate and 37 percent CSW. Bello’s changeup was particularly effective on Tuesday, getting 10 whiffs on 21 swings, but he also had a 38 percent whiff rate on his slider which will be a big pitch for him if he wants to take the next step in his development. Overall, it was a strong showing for the 25-year-old, and he’ll now take a 4.18 ERA into a showdown with the Tigers this weekend. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:38 pm

    • Improves to 6-2
Bello (6-2) earned the win Tuesday over the Orioles, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Baltimore got to Bello early Tuesday by scoring three runs in the opening frame, before the right-hander settled in and blanked the Orioles over his subsequent four innings while allowing just one additional hit. It's the fifth win for Bello in his last six starts. His ERA sits at 4.18 through nine outings (47.1 innings) this year with a 1.18 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB. Bello's tentatively in line for a second start this week Sunday at home versus Detroit. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:35 pm
