  • Twins not actively shopping Brian Dozier
Twins GM Thad Levine said unless they are "really inspired," the team will not consider trading Brian Dozier.

Advice: Dozier has understandably been a popular name in trade talks this winter, but the Twins aren't actively shopping him. "We don’t have an immediate replacement," said Levine at an event for season-ticket holders earlier this week. "No one’s replacing his 42 home runs." The power-hitting second baseman still has two years and $15 million remaining on his contract. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 2:31 pm

  • Rays do not tender contract to Ryan Brett
    Rays non-tendered INF Ryan Brett.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder missed the entire 2016 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He'll look to latch on elsewhere on a minor league deal. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:15 am

  • Angels non-tender Gregorio Petit on Friday
    Angels non-tendered INF Gregorio Petit.

Advice: The 31-year-old infielder is now a free agent and will look for work elsewhere. He hit just .245/.299/.348 with two homers and 17 RBI in 223 plate appearances with the Angels in 2016. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:09 am

  • Giants agree to one-year deal with Adrianza
Giants avoided arbitration with INF Ehire Adrianza, agreeing to a one-year contract.

Advice: The deal will pay Adrianza $600,000 if he's in the big leagues or $300,000 if he spends the season in the minor leagues. The 27-year-old appeared in 40 games for the Giants in 2016, slashing .254/.299/.381 with a pair of homers and seven RBI in 63 at-bats. Rotoworld.com Friday, 6:27 pm

  • Padres non-tender Jose Pirela on Friday
    Padres non-tendered INF Jose Pirela.

Advice: The move makes the 27-year-old a free agent. He has slashed an unimpressive .226/.246/.321 with one home run and eight RBI over 144 plate appearances in his career at the major league level. Rotoworld.com Friday, 6:02 pm

  • Padres non-tender Alexi Amarista on Friday
    Padres non-tendered INF Alexi Amarista.

Advice: The 27-year-old had a mediocre season in a utility role for the Padres in 2016, hitting .257/.295/.271 with no homers, 11 RBI and nine stolen bases in 150 plate appearances. He'll look for another opportunity in free agency but is likely to be irrelevant in most fantasy formats regardless of where he lands. Rotoworld.com Friday, 5:53 pm

  • Brewers and Scooter Gennett avoid arbitration
Brewers and INF Scooter Gennett avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.525 million contract.

Advice: It's a well-deserved raise over the $518,100 that the 26-year-old took home in 2016. Gennett slashed .263/.317/.412 in 2016 while setting career-highs with 14 homers, 56 RBI, 58 runs scored and eight stolen bases. Rotoworld.com Friday, 5:00 pm
  • Lawrie agrees to pay cut, avoids arbitration
White Sox and INF Brett Lawrie avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.5 million contract.

Advice: Lawrie will see a massive drop in salary from the $4.125 million that he made in 2016 after hitting just .248/.310/.413 with 12 homers and 36 RBI in 94 games in his first season with the White Sox. Still just 26-years-old, Lawrie is expected to be fully healthy and ready to go for the start of spring training and could represent a nice buy-low opportunity in the late rounds of fantasy drafts. • Twins avoid arbitration with Eduardo Escobar
Twins and INF Eduardo Escobar avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.6 million contract.

Advice: It's a small raise over the $2.15 million that Escobar took home in 2016. More useful for his defensive prowess and versatility than with the bat, the 27-year-old infielder slashed a mere .236/.280/.338 with six homers and 37 RBI in 105 games for the Twins in 2016. • Indians re-sign Martinez to minors deal
Indians re-signed INF/OF Michael Martinez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Advice: Martinez was pushed off the Indians' 40-man roster in late November and he'll have to earn that spot back with a good showing in camp next spring. The veteran utilityman batted .238/.267/.307 this past year between Boston and Cleveland. He's forever trivia-relevant as the final batter in the Indians' World Series loss to the Cubs. • Duffy 'very much ahead' of schedule
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Matt Duffy is "very much ahead of schedule" in his recovery from Achilles surgery.

Advice: Typical manager-speak, but Duffy is out of his walking boot and the expectation is that he will be ready for spring training. He projects to open as the Rays' starting shortstop in 2017 after batting .258/.310/.357 with five homers and eight steals in 91 games this summer between San Francisco and Tampa Bay. Better health would obviously yield better fantasy results. He has it in him to carry deep-league value. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 12:49 pm

  • Braves, Sean Rodriguez finalize 2-year deal
Braves signed INF/OF Sean Rodriguez to a two-year, $11.5 million contract.

Advice: FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported news of the signing while Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reported the financial details. Rodriguez broke out with 18 homers and an .859 OPS as a member of the Pirates in 2016 and could be in line for the starting second base gig in Atlanta, at least until Ozzie Albies is deemed ready for the majors. The 31-year-old is capable of providing plenty of value in a utility role. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 11:33 am

  • Angels have had talks with Stephen Drew
According to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register, the Angels have had preliminary talks with free agent infielder Stephen Drew.

Advice: Fletcher notes, however, that Drew is "one of many candidates" the Angels are considering to boost their infield depth. Drew hit well for the Nationals this summer over 165 plate appearances (.864 OPS), but it has been years since he's been a reliable player in an everyday role. Drew will turn 34 years old next March. • Saladino believes he's over back issues
Tyler Saladino said Tuesday that he believes his back issues are under control.

Advice: Saladino struggled through back discomfort on and off in 2016 and was eventually diagnosed with a herniated disk in late September, but he's had a fairly normal offseason and expects to be 100 percent leading into 2017. "My back, I feel actually really good right now and strong and all that," said the 27-year-old utilityman. "I haven't had any symptoms. It's actually been the opposite. It has been feeling really good, knock on wood or whatever. It's been a good progression." Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 1:39 pm

  • Rendon wins NL Comeback Player of the Year
Anthony Rendon was announced as the winner of the National League Comeback Player of the Year Award on Tuesday.

Advice: The award is officially sanctioned by MLB and was voted on by the 30 club beat reporters from MLB.com. Rendon was limited to just 80 games last season due to injury while batting .264 with five homers and a .707 OPS, but he bounced back in a big way back in 2016 by putting up a .270/.348/.450 batting line with 20 homers and 85 RBI in a career-high 156 games. • Pirates listening to offers on Josh Harrison
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Pirates "remain open" to trading Josh Harrison.

Advice: A rival general manager told Rosenthal that the Pirates "generally" listen to trade offers for players under long-term control, which includes Harrison and also Andrew McCutchen. Harrison has disappointed since inking a long-term extension, batting just .285/.318/.389 over the last two seasons. If the Pirates were to trade Harrison, they could install Adam Frazier or Alen Hanson at second base. Rosenthal says Jung Ho Kang is not a candidate to move back to second after injuring his knee while playing the position in 2015. Rotoworld.com Monday, 8:13 pm

Angels designated INF Gregorio Petit for assignment.

  • Twins 'have to be wowed' to trade Dozier
Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Twins "continue to aim high" in Brian Dozier trade talks.

Advice: Berardino adds that they've told at least one team that they'd "have to be wowed" in order to deal Dozier. You can't blame the Twins for setting their sights high, of course, given that Dozier is coming off a 42-homer season and is owed just $15 million over the next two seasons. The Dodgers are one club known to have interest in the second baseman. Rotoworld.com Nov 25, 1:01 pm

  • Braves ink Sean Rodriguez to two-year deal
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Braves have signed Sean Rodriguez to a two-year deal, pending a physical.

Advice: Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports hears that the deal carries a guarantee of $11.5 million. Rodriguez will receive a $1.5 million signing bonus and will make $5 million in 2016 and 2017. The 31-year-old thrived in a utility role with the Pirates this past season, but he could serve as the primary second baseman over Jace Peterson in Atlanta. He also gives the Braves an alternative to Adonis Garcia at third base. Rodriguez established new career-bests with 18 homers with an .859 OPS in 2016. Rotoworld.com Nov 24, 1:10 pm
