• Eduardo Rodriguez expected to be out until June
Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters this week that Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) is unlikely to make his 2024 season debut before June.

Advice: Lovullo told reporters, “I wanna believe he’s going to get strong and get healthy and magically come back sooner than later, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen. We’re gonna slow play this.” The Diamondbacks seem intent on making sure that he’s fully recovered this time around before resuming his throwing program, and then it’s going to take him a while to build back up. Fantasy managers in season-long leagues without IL spots, need to start weighing the costs and benefits of continuing for another six weeks or so with that dead roster spot. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago
  • Nearing rehab assignment
Manager Carlos Mendoza said Friday that Peterson (hip) is roughly one week away from beginning a rehab assignment, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Peterson has been sidelined all season after undergoing hip surgery in November. He will need to spend a significant amount of time in the minors as he builds up to a starter's workload, but he will have plenty of room to do so, as he is not eligible to return from the IL until May 27. • Kodai Senga (shoulder) throws bullpen on Friday
Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw a 26-pitch bullpen session on Friday.

Advice: It’s the second time that the 31-year-old right-hander has thrown off of a mound while recovering from his shoulder injury. It’s unclear how many more times he may need to repeat the process before he’s cleared to face live hitters, but he’s making tangible strides toward a return to the Mets’ rotation. He’s tentatively expected to return in late May, but could beat that timeline if he continues to progress. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago

  • David Peterson closing in on rehab assignment
Mets’ skipper Carlos Mendoza told reporters on Friday that David Peterson (hip) is about a week away from beginning his minor league rehab assignment.

Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw is working his way back from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip. He’s probably going to need at least three rehab starts — maybe more — before he’s ready to join the Mets’ rotation. It looks like he’s on track for a return at some point in mid-May. • Expects to make next start
Miley said Friday that he expects to make his next scheduled start despite taking a comebacker off his left knee during his outing Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Miley was hit by a 108-mph line drive during the first inning of Tuesday's loss and remained in the game for only two more innings. However, it seems the veteran southpaw was able to escape the incident with minimal damage. He's surrendered four earned runs across seven innings this year while striking out two batters and walking four, and he's lined up to start again Tuesday versus the Pirates. • Jameson Taillon victorious in 2024 debut Friday
Jameson Taillon was victorious in his 2024 season debut on Friday, limiting the Marlins to one run on three hits over five strong innings of work.

Advice: The 32-year-old right-hander punched out four batters on the afternoon and didn’t issue a base on balls. The only blemish on his debut came on a solo blast off the bat of Bryan De La Cruz in the fourth inning. Taillon generated 12 swings and misses on 73 pitches on the afternoon — five on his fastball which averaged 92.6 mph and touched as high as 94.0 — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. He draws a much tougher assignment his next time out, taking on the Astros at home on Wednesday. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago

  • A.J. Puk clobbered in loss to Cubs on Friday
A.J. Puk was clobbered in Friday afternoon’s loss to the Cubs, giving up seven runs on seven hits over his three innings of work.

Advice: Oof. The 28-year-old southpaw also issued three walks while striking out four batters on the afternoon. The Cubs didn’t even take him deep on Friday, it was simply a barrage of baserunners, with two runs in the first, one in the second and four more in his final inning of work. Puk got seven swings and misses on 70 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 29 percent. He now holds a brutal 0-4 record, 9.22 ERA, 2.63 WHIP and a 12/17 K/BB ratio across 13 2/3 innings through his first four starts. Perhaps the Marlins would be better served pulling the plug on this experiment and letting Max Meyer run free in their rotation. Rotoworld Today, 4:45 pm

  • Will continue rehab assignment
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Buehler (elbow) needs at least one more rehab outing before returning to the rotation, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Buehler struggled in his rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday. He allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across 2.2 innings. Roberts noted that Buehler's execution Thursday was "not great," and the right-hander will continue his rehab assignment until his command improves. Landon Knack will stay in the Dodgers' rotation and will get at least one more start. Rotowire.com Today, 4:27 pm

  • Julio Teheran struggles in first start at Triple-A
Julio Teheran struggled in his first start at Triple-A Iowa on Friday, giving up five runs on five hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 33-year-old hurler struck out a pair of batters on the day while issuing one free pass. A few of the hits were very soft contact that happened to fall into the right place, but Teheran simply wasn’t great in the outing. It’s unclear how many starts they’ll give him there before he becomes an option to help out at the big league level. Rotoworld Today, 4:27 pm
