      Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Thursday that the decision to push Bradish's next start back isn't related to health concerns, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

      Advice: Cade Povich was called up from Triple-A Norfolk to start Thursday versus the Blue Jays in what would have been Bradish's turn, but the move was designed simply to give Bradish extra rest. Hyde wasn't ready to commit to when Bradish would make his next start, however, as the Orioles haven't confirmed any of their four starters for their upcoming series with the Rays that begins Friday. Bradish could take the ball one of those days, but having his turn skipped entirely is also a possibility. The right-hander has been excellent overall since coming off the injured list in early May, but he stumbled his last time out, allowing five runs over just 2.2 innings in a no-decision against the Rays last Saturday.       Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run during Wednesday's 10-6 loss to the Pirates.

      Advice: Ohtani plated Mookie Betts in the second inning on a 415-foot homer off Paul Skenes. While Ohtani isn't quite hitting with the power he did a season ago, he owns a .322 batting average -- which would be a career best if it stands.       Skenes (3-0) picked up the win Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk across five innings with eight strikeouts.

      Advice: While Skenes picked up his third victory in five career starts, he didn't make it out of Wednesday's start unscathed. Each of the three runs attributed to the rookie came off a home run, with Shohei Ohtani belting a two-run homer in the third inning before Andy Pages went yard for a solo shot in the fifth. At 22 years of age, Skenes has already established himself as an above-average MLB starter, holding a 3.00 ERA with an excellent 38:6 K:BB across 27.0 innings.       Manager Rob Thomson said Tuesday that Turnbull will stay in the bullpen while the Phillies remain committed to Taijuan Walker as their No. 5 starter, Dan Gelston of the Associated Press reports.

      Advice: While Walker began the season on the injured list, Turnbull secured a spot in the Opening Day rotation and dazzled over his six starts, going 2-0 with a 1.67 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB in 32.1 innings. Shortly after Walker returned from the IL in late April, the Phillies opted to move Turnbull to the bullpen rather than expanding the rotation to six men. Though his performance has taken a step back upon his move to the bullpen, Turnbull is coming off an impressive showing against the Cardinals on Saturday, when he struck out six over three scoreless frames. Walker, meanwhile, hasn't pitched into the seventh inning of his last five turns through the rotation and is sitting on a 5.73 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 37.2 innings overall through seven starts on the season. At this point, Walker's exorbitant four-year, $72 million contract may be the main reason he's still in the rotation, but his leash has undoubtedly gotten shorter. Walker will start Sunday's game against the Mets in London, but another poor showing could prompt Thomson to change his tune and give Turnbull another look in the rotation.       Paul Skenes improved to 3-0 after allowing three runs in five innings and striking out eight Wednesday against the Dodgers.

      Advice: Skenes surrendered homers to Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages, matching his total of two allowed in his first four starts, but he once against received ample run support from a Pirates offense that has often scuffled for, well, going on 30 years now. The team has scored 10, nine, six, 10 and nine runs in Skenes’ five starts. That’s 11 more runs in five games than the 33 runs totaled in Jared Jones’ 12 starts this season.     • Jordan Hicks lasts just 3 2/3 frames vs. D-backs
      Jordan Hicks gave up two runs over 3 2/3 inefficient frames on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Hicks was all over the place in this one as he authored one of the more bizarre pitching lines of the season to date with seven strikeouts and four walks, while needing a staggering 92 pitches (51 strikes) to work into the fourth inning. The 27-year-old righty has exceeded expectations in his transition back to a traditional starting role, despite not working too deep into contests so far, posting a stellar 2.82 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 59/23 K/BB ratio across 67 innings (13 starts).       Nick Castellanos swatted a two-run homer on Wednesday, lifting the Phillies to a 2-0 victory over the Brewers.

      Advice: Castellanos connected for a 402-foot blast off Brewers southpaw Aaron Ashby in the fifth inning for his eighth big fly of the season. It wound up being the lone tally for either side in a rare low-scoring showdown at Citizens Bank Park and was more than enough run support for Aaron Nola and the Phillies’ bullpen in this one.       Aaron Nola fired seven shutout innings on Wednesday in a win over the Brewers.

      Advice: Nola scattered a pair of hits and recorded five strikeouts on Wednesday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, combining with relievers Jeff Hoffman and José Alvarado on a three-hit shutout. The 31-year-old righty has been a model of consistency over the last few weeks, allowing two earned runs or fewer in five consecutive starts since May 14. He’ll carry a strong 2.77 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 76/22 K/BB ratio across 84 1/3 innings (13 starts) into a road tilt next Thursday against the Red Sox at historic Fenway Park.       Advice: The right-hander did rack up some Ks, but Hicks needed 92 pitches (51 strikes) to record just 11 outs and got the hook before he could quality for a win. He's failed to complete six innings in seven straight trips to the mound, posting a 4.09 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 32:13 K:BB over 33 innings during that stretch.
