    • Struggles with control Saturday
Steele allowed five runs (one earned) on seven hits and four walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a no-decision against Cincinnati on Saturday.

Advice: Steele's fantasy stat line wasn't disastrous since only one of the five runs charged to him was earned, but he was far from sharp, especially in terms of control. The southpaw hit a batter in addition to issuing a season-high four walks, and he threw just 58 of 98 pitches for strikes. Steele is usually much better at limiting free passes -- before Saturday, he had issued only seven walks over six starts -- so this was likely just a bump in the road for him. He's been decent with a 4.10 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 37.1 innings this season but has yet to pick up a win. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

    • Steele allows five runs in no-decision
Justin Steele allowed five runs (one earned) in five innings and got a no-decision in the Cubs’ 7-5 victory over the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Steele gave up seven hits, walked four and struck out five. He seemed to be turning a corner with seven shutout innings in his last start, but this was a setback for Steele. Even though most of the runs were unearned, he’s now allowed at least five runs in four of his last five starts. Steele has completed six innings in only two of his seven starts this year. His ERA was mostly spared in this one and now sits at 4.10 for the season, but when you add it all up this isn’t a recipe for winning games right now. The 28-year-old left-hander will look to improve against the Reds on the road next week.

    • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. swipes base in loss to Bucs
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. swiped his second base of the season and scored the Blue Jays’ lone run in Saturday’s loss to the Pirates.

Advice: The 25-year-old slugger smacked a one-out single off of Mitch Keller in the sixth inning, advanced to second on a line drive off the bat of Bo Bichette and scored the Jays’ only run on a two-out RBI single by Dan Vogelbach. He also drew a walk in the opening inning and swiped second base, but was left stranded there. Guerrero finished the day 2-for-3 and is now slashing .292/.390/.406 with five homers, 25 RBI and a pair of stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Today, 2:58 pm
    • Eyeing Wednesday return
Singer (illness) is feeling better but still needs a few days to recover strength, potentially slotting in to start Wednesday in Cleveland according to manager Matt Quatraro, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Singer was scratched from his last scheduled start Thursday versus the Twins due to an illness, but he now appears to be on track to return to the mound relatively soon. The right-hander is in the midst of a career year with Kansas City, producing a 2.63 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 64 strikeouts over 61.2 innings in his first 11 starts of 2024. • Breather Saturday
Kwan is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus Washington.

Advice: Kwan will head to the bench after he went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in his return to the lineup Friday after missing nearly four weeks with a hamstring injury. David Fry will slot in at left field while Kyle Manzardo enters the lineup at designated hitter and bats sixth against the Nationals. Rotowire.com Today, 11:23 am

    • Steven Kwan not in Saturday’s lineup vs. Nationals
Steven Kwan is not in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Nationals.

Advice: Kwan will take a seat on Saturday afternoon with rookie southpaw Mitchell Parker toeing the rubber for Washington at Progressive Field. The 26-year-old contact-oriented outfielder didn’t show any signs of rust on Friday when he tallied three hits and reached base safely in four of his five plate appearances during his return from the injured list. • Continues hot hitting
Profar went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Friday's 11-8 victory versus the Royals.

Advice: Profar plated a run with a single in the sixth inning and added another RBI knock in the Padres' nine-run eighth. The veteran is working on a modest four-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 7-for-15 with a home run and five RBI. Profar's .330 batting average this season is second in the majors behind only teammate Luis Arraez (.342). Rotowire.com Today, 9:10 am

    • Back in lineup Friday
Semien returned to the starting lineup and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 8-2 loss to Miami.

Advice: Semien was back in the lineup after he sat out Wednesday's game, breaking a streak of 349 consecutive regular-season starts. As it turns out, Semien was dealing with the residual effects of a collision with teammate Adolis Garcia, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Semien was feeling "banged up," which was the reason he sat out Wednesday. Rotowire.com Today, 6:06 am
