      Singer came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Marlins, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: The right-hander delivered his sixth quality start of the season on 92 pitches (63 strikes) and completed seven innings for the first time since his first outing of the year, March 31 against the Twins. Despite the impressive performance, Singer left the mound in line for his fifth loss before the Royals' offense woke up in the bottom of the eighth inning.       Brady Singer allowed one run over 7 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

      Advice: Singer surrendered a run-scoring single to Nick Fortes in the second inning, which represented the lone tally against him in this one. Unfortunately, Kansas City’s offense didn’t respond with any run support until after his exit from the contest when they put up five runs in the eighth inning. The 27-year-old righty finished with five strikeouts and only issued one walk in his longest outing of the year so far.       Marcus Semien finished 0-for-5 on Wednesday and is in a 4-for-41 slump in his last 10 games.

      Advice: Semien started off well enough in April, but he’s been treading water for about two months now, and particularly unfortunate for fantasy leaguers is that he’s attempted just four steals this season, converting three of them.       Yainer Diaz went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday in the Astros’ win over the Rockies.

      Advice: Diaz opened the scoring with a run-scoring single off Rockies starter Ryan Feltner in the fourth inning before tacking on another RBI single a couple frames later to give Houston a six-run advantage at the time. The 25-year-old backstop got off to a frosty start this season at the dish, but he’s rounded into form of late, batting .351 (20-for-57) with two homers and one steal over his past 15 games.     • Ryan Pepiot strikes out eight on Wednesday vs. Mariners
      Ryan Pepiot recorded eight strikeouts and allowed one run over 5 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Mariners.

      Advice: Pepiot carried a shutout into the sixth inning before being lifted from the contest at 88 pitches (54 strikes) after issuing a one-out walk to J.P. Crawford. He wound up being charged with that run when reliever Shawn Armstrong served up a three-run homer to Cal Raleigh later in the frame. The -year-old righty generated 15 swinging strikes, including nine on his four-seam fastball alone, and finished with a respectable 29 percent CSW. It was a nice effort from Pepiot considering he failed to complete five frames in each of his previous two outings.       Reds’ manager David Bell told reporters that Jeimer Candelario was held out of the team’s starting lineup on Wednesday due to hamstring tendinitis.

      Advice: The injury isn’t believed to be serious, and sounds like something the 30-year-old slugger has been dealing with for a while. He’s considered day-to-day.     • Dealing with hamstring tendinitis
      Reds manager David Bell clarified Wednesday that Candelario is dealing with hamstring tendinitis and is considered day-to-day, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

      Advice: Candelario has been nursing the issue for more than a week, with Bell saying before Wednesday's loss to the Pirates that the injury is "progressively not getting better." However, the team doesn't seem to have any plans at this time to put Candelario on the 10-day injured list.
