• Shea Langeliers homers, plates five in A’s win
Shea Langeliers went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and five RBI, powering the Athletics to a 9-4 win over the Rangers in the opening contest of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: Langeliers blasted a go-ahead two-run shot off Rangers starter Michael Lorenzen in the second inning before adding a two-run double in the fourth inning and an RBI triple a couple frames later to cap off a stellar five-RBI performance. He’ll presumably be back at designated hitter for the nightcap of Wednesday’s twin bill after catching the front-end of the doubleheader. Rotoworld Today, 3:06 pm

  • Marcus Semien stays hot in Rangers’ loss to A’s
Marcus Semien went 3-for-5 with a solo homer in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Athletics.

Advice: Semien went deep for the second consecutive contest against his former team, pulverizing a 412-foot solo shot off Athletics starter JP Sears in the third inning as part of a three-hit performance. Rotoworld Today, 3:05 pm

  • Brent Rooker swats three-run homer in A’s win
Brent Rooker went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Rangers.

Advice: Rooker finished off a three-hit effort with a towering 427-foot blast -- his ninth round-tripper of the season -- to straightaway center field in the seventh inning to cap off Oakland’s nine-run offensive explosion in the front-end of Wednesday’s twin bill. Rotoworld Today, 3:05 pm

  • Michael Lorenzen hit hard in loss to A’s
Michael Lorenzen was lit up for six runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Lorenzen took the ball for the opening contest of Wednesday’s twin bill at Oakland Coliseum and turned in an absolute clunker. He was tagged for nine hits, including homers from Shea Langeliers and Brett Harris, before his calamitous outing came to a close. He finished with six strikeouts and only handed out a pair of free passes. He’ll being an inflated 4.66 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 23/14 K/BB ratio across 29 innings (five starts) into a home matchup on Tuesday against the Guardians. Rotoworld Today, 3:04 pm

  • Red Sox designate Zack Short for assignment
Red Sox designated INF Zack Short for assignment.

Advice: Short was just acquired from the Mets a week ago for cash considerations, but he’ll be placed on waivers for the third time this year as the Red Sox needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster. Once again, there may be interest around the league in the glove-first infielder. Rotoworld Today, 3:02 pm

  • Up in big leagues
The Giants recalled Ramos from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The 24-year-old has a .953 OPS in 30 games for Sacramento this season and will now receive a look in the big leagues as Jorge Soler (shoulder) lands on the injured list. Ramos has a career .470 OPS in the majors, but he's played in just 34 games and has never received an extended run of playing time. He's batting seventh as the designated hitter Wednesday against the Rockies. Rotowire.com Today, 2:58 pm

  • Giants recall Heliot Ramos from Triple-A
Giants recalled OF Heliot Ramos from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: He’ll take the place of the injured Jorge Soler (shoulder) on the Giants’ active roster. The 24-year-old outfielder has always struggled in his opportunities with the big league club, but he was off to a terrific start at Triple-A — slashing .296/.388/.565 with eight homers, 21 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in his first 30 games. • Giants finally place Jorge Soler (shoulder) on IL
Giants placed OF Jorge Soler on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 5, with a right shoulder strain.

Advice: The Giants had been taking things day-to-day with their 32-year-old slugger — who has been shelved since last weekend due to soreness in his right shoulder — but on Wednesday they felt it was time to throw in the towel and sit him down rather than playing short-handed any longer. It’s a tough break for fantasy managers in weekly leagues, who may have chanced starting him for that juicy series at Coors Field. Heliot Ramos was recalled in a corresponding move. • Lands on injured list
The Giants placed Soler on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Soler's shoulder has caused him to miss the last three games, and he'll now officially be sidelined for another several days. The move is retroactive to Sunday, so it's possible the 32-year-old slugger is able to return in a week, but the Giants will wait and see how his shoulder heals. Heliot Ramos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 2:49 pm
