  • Pepiot likely to start for Dodgers on Wednesday
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Ryan Pepiot is the "favorite" to start Wednesday versus the Twins.

Advice: Pepiot was spotted in the Dodgers' clubhouse before Tuesday night's series opener against Minnesota and he should be officially recalled on Wednesday to fill in for the injured Clayton Kershaw. The 24-year-old right-hander has delivered a 2.76 ERA and 19/12 K/BB ratio over his first 16 1/3 major league innings (four starts) this season. When he throws strikes, he can be dominant. 20 minutes ago

  • Lynn allows four earned over six in loss to KC
Lance Lynn allowed four earned runs over six innings Tuesday in a loss to the Royals.

Advice: Lynn seemed to be getting back on track over his last handful of starts, but this outing was not so encouraging. He gave up seven hits, including a pair of home runs, as the White Sox dropped the first half of a doubleheader at Kauffman Stadium. The veteran right-hander will lug a 5.88 ERA into his next scheduled assignment against the Tigers, who currently have the worst combined team OPS of all 30 clubs at .616. 30 minutes ago
  • Mike Trout (back) began hitting off a tee Monday
Mike Trout (back) began hitting off a tee on Monday.

Advice: Trout was limited to only dry swings and rotational work for a while due to lingering discomfort in his back, but he's on the right track now as he aims to return to the Angels' active roster before the conclusion of the 2022 regular season. The star outfielder has been on the IL since July 18 with ribcage inflammation that was later linked to a costovertebral dysfunction. There's no exact timetable yet. 35 minutes ago

  • Flaherty (shoulder) to begin rehab assignment Wed.
Jack Flaherty (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: The target is 30-35 pitches for his rehab debut and then Flaherty can progress from there. The 26-year-old right-hander has logged only eight major league innings across three starts this season due to a nagging shoulder issue, and it's difficult to know what to expect from him down the stretch. Flaherty could obviously be a huge weapon for the NL Central-leading Cardinals if he's able to work back to full health. 40 minutes ago
  • White Sox activate Reynaldo López from the IL
White Sox activated RHP Reynaldo López from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: López will return to the White Sox bullpen for the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Royals after missing exactly 15 days with a lower back strain. Tim Anderson (hand) has been placed on the 10-day IL in a corresponding 26-man roster move and is expected to be out for at least six weeks. 42 minutes ago
  • Tim Anderson (hand) goes on IL, will have surgery
White Sox placed SS Tim Anderson on the 10-day injured list with a sagittal band tear in the middle finger of his left hand.

Advice: Per an official press release, Anderson suffered this injury on a check-swing Saturday night at Texas and will undergo surgery to repair the torn ligament on Thursday in Chicago. Word is that the dynamic 29-year-old shortstop will be sidelined for at least the next six weeks, so this IL stint is likely going run into late September. Leury Garcia started at short in both halves of Tuesday's doubleheader in Kansas City. 47 minutes ago

  • Diego Castillo (shoulder) to be activated Wed.
Diego Castillo (shoulder) will be activated from the IL on Wednesday.

Advice: Castillo struggled badly in his lone rehab appearance with High-A Everett, but he is recovered from the shoulder issue that sent him to the IL in late July and the Mariners could use a fresh bullpen arm. The righty reliever has a 3.93 ERA and 36/17 K/BB ratio in 36 2/3 innings this year with Seattle. 51 minutes ago

  • Singer pitches into eighth for win over White Sox
Brady Singer tossed 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball as the Royals earned a 4-2 win over the White Sox in the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Singer surrendered a solo home run to Josh Harrison in the top of the third inning but otherwise cruised in the afternoon tilt at Kauffman Stadium, yielding just four other hits and no walks while tallying six strikeouts. The 26-year-old right-hander has now pitched six or more innings in six consecutive outings, and five of those have been quality starts. He'll bring a 3.49 ERA into his next assignment versus the Dodgers. 54 minutes ago

  • Dylan Moore (back) to be activated Wednesday
Dylan Moore (back) is set to be activated from the injured list on Wednesday.

Advice: That's the first day that Moore is eligible to return, so things have obviously gone pretty well in his recovery from a back ailment. The dynamic 30-year-old holds an uneven .197/.350/.367 batting line with five home runs and 11 stolen bases in 75 games played on the season for Seattle. 58 minutes ago
