  • Matzek (shoulder) throws perfect frame at AAA
Tyler Matzek (shoulder) tallied two strikeouts in a perfect rehab inning Wednesday with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: It was his first outing with Gwinnett after a brief rain-interrupted stay with Low-A Augusta. Matzek will probably do a couple more Triple-A appearances before returning to the Braves' bullpen sometime early next week. The lefty reliever has been sidelined since May 14 because of inflammation in his pitching shoulder. NBCSportsEDGE.com 6 minutes ago

  • Eddie Rosario (eye) has two doubles in rehab game
Eddie Rosario (eye) had two doubles, two RBI, and a walk in his fourth rehab game at Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Advice: It really does sound like Rosario is seeing the ball a whole lot better since undergoing surgery to correct blurred vision and swelling in his right eye. He had slashed just .068/.163/.091 through 49 plate appearances when the Braves shut him down back in late April. The 2021 NLCS MVP should rejoin Atlanta's active roster within the next week or so. • Alex Verdugo leads Red Sox past Blue Jays
Alex Verdugo hit a two-run homer in the sixth and a two-run double in the 10th to lead the Red Sox to a 6-5 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Advice: Verdugo dug himself quite a hole this season, but he's hitting .337/.400/.505 with three homers and 19 RBI this month, raising his season OPS to .707. He should be a top-30 fantasy outfielder the rest of the way. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 11:01 pm
  • Nick Pivetta holds Jays to two runs on Wednesday
Nick Pivetta held the Blue Jays to two runs in six innings Wednesday.

Advice: Pivetta's consistency -- yeah, that Nick Pivetta -- is about as responsible as anything else for the Red Sox's reemergence in the playoff race. He's turned in quality starts in 10 of his last 11 outings, and the Red Six have won nine of those games. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:59 pm
  • Matt Strahm gets win in relief for Red Sox
Matt Strahm got a win against the Blue Jays on Wednesday after allowing two runs -- one earned -- in two innings of relief.

Advice: Strahm was probably Boston's best option in the ninth inning Tuesday, but Alex Cora didn't want to use a lefty with a bunch of righties coming up. At least that meant Strahm was rested tonight. He worked a scoreless ninth in a tie game and then escaped the 10th after the Red Sox put up three runs in the top of the frame. It was Strahm's third win to go along with three saves. He has a 3.80 ERA, but he's been better than that suggests. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:55 pm
  • Alek Manoah strong for seven versus Red Sox
Alek Manoah pitched seven innings and allowed three runs -- two earned -- against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: That's 13 quality starts in 15 tries for Manoah this year, and it's not like he was all that far off on the other two. His 2.09 ERA in fifth in the majors. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:51 pm

  • Franchy Cordero goes 4-for-5 against Blue Jays
Franchy Cordero went 4-for-5 with a double and two steals against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Advice: Cordero was losing ground to Bobby Dalbec at first base, so he needed this. He was hitting just .179/.286/.299 over his previous 22 games (20 starts). The stolen bases were his second and third of the year. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:48 pm
  • Josh Naylor wins game for Guardians
Josh Naylor hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th to give the Guardians a 7-6 win over the Twins on Wednesday.

Advice: It was a 3-3 game after nine, but the Guardians responded to Minnesota's three-run top of the 10th with a four-run bottom of the inning. Naylor's homer was a walkoff blast of Jharel Cotton. He also had a sac fly in the game. His June hasn't been a match for his May, but he's still hitting .250 with three homers, eight doubles and 16 RBI in 22 games for the month. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:44 pm

  • Cal Quantrill solid for eight innings versus Twins
Cal Quantrill lasted eight innings and allowed three runs Wednesday against the Twins.

Advice: The eight innings are a season high. Quantrill's velocity is down and his strikeout rate has taken a major hit, but he's kept it together nicely, posting a 3.72 ERA while throwing 84 2/3 innings in his 14 starts. His ceiling seems low at this point, but he's giving the Guardians a chance to win every time out. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:41 pm

  • Dylan Bundy decent for five against Guardians
Dylan Bundy surrendered three runs -- two earned -- in five innings Wednesday against the Guardians.

Advice: Bundy struck out just one, but he turned in a solid outing anyway. It's disturbing that he finished with only one or two strikeouts in four of his five starts this month. There just wouldn't seem to be much upside here at this point. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:36 pm
  • Jhoan Duran goes two scoreless against Guardians
Jhoan Duran pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings Wednesday against the Guardians.

Advice: Duran did his part before the Twins lost the game in the 10th. He's the favorite for saves in the bullpen at this point, but the committee probably won't be disbanded any time soon. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:34 pm

  • Emilio Pagan charged with three runs in 10th
Emilio Pagan gave up three runs -- two earned -- while retiring just one batter in the 10th Wednesday against the Guardians.

Advice: Brought in with a three-run lead in the 10th, Pagan retired the first batter he faced before walking Steven Kwan and giving up a double to Amed Rosario. That was enough to get him pulled, which makes one wonder why the Twins called him on the first place. Jharel Cotton took over at that point and gave up a three-run homer to the second batter he faced. Pagan has been mediocre and doesn't really deserve save chances at this point, but with the way Rocco Baldelli is managing this pen, save chances might continue to fall to him. • Raisel Iglesias picks up 15th save in win over CWS
Raisel Iglesias recorded his 15th save of the season when he tossed a scoreless ninth inning in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Iglesias was in line for a rest day with the Angels up 4-0 in the eighth inning, but the White Sox would score one on a wild pitch in the top of the frame to give the veteran reliever a chance at the subsequent save. He recorded the first two outs of the ninth inning without issue before issuing a walk to Seby Zavala, but made sure that the free pass did not blossom into a late rally, finishing off the White Sox with a strikeout of Tim Anderson. With the scoreless ninth, Iglesias improved to 15-of-17 in save chances this season to pair with a 3.62 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 40/5 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:27 pm
  • Amed Rosario goes 4-for-4 in Guardians' win
Amed Rosario went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a steal versus the Twins in Wednesday's win.

Advice: Rosario has hit .376/.395/.532 with 12 runs, 21 runs scored and six steals in June. His season average is all of the way up to .293. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:25 pm

  • Steven Kwan goes 3-for-4, scores three times
Steven Kwan finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored against the Twins on Wednesday.

Advice: Kwan doubled for his 12th extra-base hit of the season. His game is mostly singles at this point, and it seems unlikely that the homers will come anytime soon, if ever. Still, he's had a fine June (.354/.413/.402) after a dreadful May. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 10:24 pm

  • Matzek (shoulder) shifts rehab to AAA Gwinnett
Tyler Matzek (shoulder) has shifted his minor league rehab assignment to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: He is now just one step away from returning to the Braves' bullpen. Matzek had a disappointing 5.06 ERA through 13 appearances with Atlanta when he landed on the IL in May due to shoulder inflammation. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 12:45 pm

  • Rosario hits go-ahead two-run single vs. Twins
Amed Rosario went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored as the Guardians beat the Twins 3-2 in the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Rosario came through with a go-ahead two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Cleveland the lead for good. His other two hits in the early tilt were also singles. The 26-year-old entered the day boasting a .343 batting average and .878 OPS over his last 106 plate appearances dating back to the final day of May. He should be rostered in most standard fantasy formats at this point. NBCSportsEDGE.com Tuesday, 1:13 pm

  • Iglesias fans one while picking up save vs. Sox
Raisel Iglesias picked up a save with a scoreless ninth Monday against the White Sox.

Advice: Iglesias struck out one, didn't allow a hit and threw 9-of-11 pitches for strikes. The 32-year-old now has 14 saves on the season, and it lowers his ERA to 3.76 with a strong WHIP of 0.84.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 9:24 pm
  • Tyler Matzek (shoulder) starting rehab assignment
Tyler Matzek (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Low-A Augusta.

Advice: Matzek played a pivotal role in the Braves' title run last year and has been out since early May due to left shoulder inflammation. The 31-year-old left-hander's return will provide a significant boost to Atlanta's bullpen. NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 7:43 am

  • Eddie Rosario (eye) posts two hits Sunday at AAA
Eddie Rosario (eye) went 2-for-6 with a pair of RBI on Sunday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Rosario tallied three hits in a pair of minor league rehab games for Triple-A Gwinnett over the weekend. The 30-year-old outfielder has been out since late April after undergoing a procedure to correct blurred vision and swelling in his eye. He's expected to rejoin the Braves' lineup sometime in mid-July. NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 6:12 am

  • Jhoan Duran perfect in ninth for fifth save
Jhoan Duran pitched a perfect ninth against the Rockies for his fifth save Sunday.

Advice: Duran struck out two. The save was his first since May 24. The Twins have kept him prominently in the late-game mix since then, but even though he's remained very effective, the save chances just haven't come. Maybe that will start to change now. NBCSportsEDGE.com Sunday, 2:58 pm

  • Verdugo blasts three-run homer off Bieber in win
Alex Verdugo connected on a three-run homer in a victory over the Guardians.

Advice: The homer was a big one -- not that any three-run homers are particularly small -- as it erased a 2-0 lead. It came off Shane Bieber with two runners on in the sixth, and it went an estimated 447 feet. Raw power isn't the question with Verdugo, it's applicating it in games that's been a bit frustrating. He has six homers on the season, and is slugging just .393 on the year.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 6:12 pm
  • Eddie Rosario (eye) begins rehab assignment
Braves announced that Eddie Rosario is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

Advice: Rosario has been on the shelf since April 25 after undergoing surgery to correct blurred vision and swelling in his eye. It is not surprising to see that the 30-year-old was only hitting .068/.163/.091 in 49 plate appearances before the procedure. If all goes well, he will rejoin the white-hot Braves around the All-Star break. NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 2:12 pm

  • Manoah throws 6 2/3 solid innings in win Friday
Alek Manoah yielded two runs over 6 2/3 innings in Friday's win over the Brewers.

Advice: Manoah gave up five hits, issued three walks, and whiffed six. After firing four straight scoreless innings to begin his start on Friday, Jace Peterson scored on a groundout in the bottom of the fifth. Later, Tyrone Taylor took him deep for a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. Manoah will take a 2.05 ERA into Wednesday's home matchup against the Red Sox.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Saturday, 12:44 am

  • Bundy performs well again, but takes loss Friday
Dylan Bundy gave up a run over six innings in Friday's loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Bundy scattered four hits, issued two walks, and struck out two. The veteran managed to keep the Rockies off the scoreboard through 5 1/3 innings, but in the top of the sixth, Connor Joe scored on a Charlie Blackmon groundout. Bundy has now given up two earned runs over his last two starts (14 innings). He'll take on the Guardians on Wednesday at Progressive Field.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 11:23 pm
  • Nick Pivetta goes seven strong for eighth win
Nick Pivetta scattered nine hits while allowing two runs in seven innings Friday against the Guardians.

Advice: Consistent and reliable are terms never previously used to describe Pivetta, but he certainly has been both of late. This makes eight quality starts in his last nine outings, which is particularly stunning given that he didn't last six innings (and had a 7.84 ERA) in five outings leading up to the stretch. He's 8-5 with a 3.25 ERA for the season. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 9:28 pm
  • Cal Quantrill effective for five versus Boston
Cal Quantrill pitched five innings of two-run ball Friday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Quantrill didn't pitch all that well, but he was helped by an outfield assist at home and a pickoff of Christian Vazquez at second base. He was also fortunate Jarren Duran's liner with the bases loaded in the second was hit right at center fielder Myles Straw. He's due to face the Twins next time out. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 9:24 pm

  • Amed Rosario goes 2-for-5, steals base
Amed Rosario went 2-for-5 and stole a base against the Red Sox on Friday.

Advice: Rosario is hitting .356/.367/.506 with two homers and five steals this month. It's not at all clear that he's really the best option to bat second for Cleveland, but he's a fine fantasy shortstop as long as continues to occupy that spot. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 9:13 pm

  • Tyler Matzek (shoulder) close to rehab assignment
Braves skipper Brian Snitker announced Wednesday that Tyler Matzek (shoulder) is close to beginning a minor league rehab assignment.

Advice: The left-hander has been shelved since mid-May due to inflammation in his left shoulder. He holds a disappointing 5.06 ERA over 13 appearances on the season, but when he's right he's one of the best setup men in all of baseball and his return will provide a major boost to the Braves bullpen. • Eddie Rosario (eye) nearing rehab assignment
Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters on Wednesday that Eddie Rosario (eye) is nearing a minor league rehab assignment.

Advice: Rosario has been shelved since April 25 after undergoing a surgical procedure to correct blurred vision and swelling in his eye. He has been going through baseball activities in recent days without issue and is progressing nicely toward a return. He's going to require quite a few games on his rehab assignment, but if all goes well he could be back with the Braves before the All-Star break. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 2:28 pm

  • Naylor lifts two-run home run against Twins
Josh Naylor went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, two runs scored, and a walk in Tuesday's win over the Twins.

Advice: Jose Ramirez doubled with one out in the top of the third and Naylor drove him in on a 353-foot home run to right field. He also scored on Franmil Reyes' two-run home run in the top of the eighth. The 25-year-old first baseman has hit safely in six of his last seven games.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 12:47 am

  • Franchy Cordero goes 3-for-4 in Boston's win
Franchy Cordero went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI against the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: His lone out was a 393-foot liner to center, so, yeah, it was a fun night for Franchy. He had a 117.9 mph single in the fourth, topping his high exit velocity for the season by four mph. He's sitting against lefties and not stealing bases, so his fantasy upside seems rather limited. He could go on a homer binge at some point, though. NBCSportsEDGE.com Monday, 7:20 pm
