• Mets acquire Ryne Stanek from Mariners on Friday
Mets acquired RHP Ryne Stanek from the Mariners for OF Rhylan Thomas.

Advice: The 33-year-old right-hander had operated as the Mariners’ primary setup man this season, racking up seven saves while posting a 4.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 44/17 K/BB ratio across 39 innings on the season. Expect Stanek to be active and in uniform for Saturday’s contest against the Braves. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago
  • Out of lineup Friday
Joe is absent from the starting nine for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: After falling into a short-side platoon role, Joe started in four of the Pirates' six games following the All-Star break. However, he will be idle Friday against right-hander Zac Gallen. With Bryan Reynolds on the bereavement list, Joe could see a minor bump in playing time in the short-term. In 317 plate appearances, Joe is slashing .243/.328/.389 with seven home runs. • Headed to Big Apple
The Mariners traded Stanek to the Mets on Friday for Rhylan Thomas, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Stanek's spot in Seattle's bullpen was in jeopardy after the Mariners acquired Yimi Garcia from the Blue Jays earlier Friday, and the former will now call New York his new home. Stanek has struggled in his eight outings in July, allowing five runs on five hits and six walks and striking out eight over 5.2 innings while registering two blown saves and a loss. Across his 46 outings for the season, Stanek has a 4.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 15 holds and seven saves across 39 innings. The 33-year-old right-hander will provide depth out of the Mets' bullpen and figures to be the second closer behind Edwin Diaz. Rotowire.com 51 minutes ago
  • Mets to acquire Ryne Stanek from Mariners
Andy Martino of SNY reports that the Mariners have agreed to a deal to acquire Ryne Stanek from the Mariners.

Advice: Martino notes that the M’s will receive minor league outfielder Rhylan Thomas in return. The 33-year-old hurler has been a fixture in the late innings for the Mariners this season, posting a 4.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 44/17 K/BB ratio across 39 innings while recording seven saves. The Mariners acquired Yimi Garcia from the Blue Jays on Friday, who will apparently take over Stanek’s role in the bullpen. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago
  • Could return next week
Cobb (hip/shoulder) is scheduled to throw five innings for Triple-A Sacramento on Friday in what is expected to be his final rehab start, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Friday's rehab start will be Cobb's sixth as part of his recovery from an offseason hip surgery and midseason shoulder soreness. If all goes well in the outing, Cobb would be in line to pitch Wednesday against the Athletics, a move that would push Jordan Hicks to the bullpen. Cobb has yielded five runs with a 20:5 K:BB across 16.1 minor-league innings. Rotowire.com Today, 4:34 pm

  • Resting versus LHP
Blackmon isn't in Colorado's lineup Friday versus the Giants.

Advice: With southpaw Kyle Harrison set to start on the bump for San Francisco, the lefty-hitting Blackmon will take a seat to begin Friday's contest. His absence will move Elias Diaz into the DH role, allowing Jacob Stallings to start behind the dish. Rotowire.com Today, 4:28 pm
  • Faces hitters
Walston (elbow) threw live batting practice Friday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Walston touched 94 miles per hour during the session, a very encouraging sign considering he hovered between 91 and 92 miles per hour during his three appearances this season. The 23-year-old southpaw is expected to be activated from the injured list sometime in August but may not have a spot on the 26-man roster. It's unclear how far along Walston is in being stretched out for a starter's workload. Rotowire.com Today, 4:27 pm

  • Idle versus lefty
Cave isn't in the Rockies' lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

Advice: The Rockies will face left-hander Kyle Harrison in Friday's series opener, so the left-handed Cave will take a seat on the bench. While he rests, Hunter Goodman, Brenton Doyle and Kris Bryant will start across the Rockies' outfield. Rotowire.com Today, 4:24 pm

  • Set for season-ending surgery
Winn is scheduled for an ulnar nerve transposition procedure on his right elbow Monday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Winn was initially placed on the 15-day injured list June 22 due to a nerve issue in his right elbow. He began his rehab program by throwing bullpen sessions in early July, but he was shut down from throwing Monday after experiencing additional discomfort in his right elbow. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on Wednesday, and with his surgery scheduled for Monday, the 26-year-old right-hander's season is officially over. He started in 12 games for the Giants before landing on the IL, going 3-8 with a 7.16 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB across 55.1 innings. Winn will now shift his attention to returning to the mound for the 2025 season. Rotowire.com Today, 4:23 pm
