• Forcing outfield rotation
Sheets went 1-for-7 with a walk and a solo home run across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Royals.

Advice: Sheets had been serving as the White Sox's primary designated hitter in the absence of Eloy Jimenez, while also picking up some playing time at first base. With Jimenez back in the mix, Sheets started both of Wednesday's games in right field, forcing Andrew Benintendi to the bench in one contest and Gavin Sheets in the other. It will take some additional time to see how playing time sorts out in the team's outfield, particularly if Tommy Pham also reaches the big-league roster. For now, it appears that Dominic Fletcher may be the only full-time starter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:08 pm

  • Cooling off
Joe went 0-for-3 with a walk Wednesday against the Mets.

Advice: Joe got off to an excellent start to the season, which has helped him earn more playing time than expected while splitting time between right field and first base. He's been in the lineup for six of Pittsburgh's last seven games but has now gone just 4-for-22 in that span. Joe will likely need to turn things around quickly to maintain his playing time against righties, with Edward Olivares being his primary competition for plate appearances. • Cranks third home run
Bellinger went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Bellinger is off to a bit of a slow start, with just a .200 batting average, a .667 OPS and three home runs across 18 games. However, he is now riding a modest four-game hitting streak, and perhaps Wednesday's long ball will give him another boost of momentum. Bellinger batted .307 with an .881 OPS and 26 home runs a season ago, so the upside is certainly there. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:15 pm

  • Brandon Drury held out of lineup again Wednesday
Brandon Drury (hamstring) was held out of the Angels’ starting lineup once again on Wednesday.

Advice: Angels’ skipper Ron Washington told reporters that Drury won’t start on Thursday either and will be limited to pinch-hitting duties, as they’re trying to protect his hamstring injury from the turf at Tropicana Field. Look for Luis Rengifo to continue to cover second base in his absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:05 pm

  • Gavin Sheets goes yard in win over Royals
Gavin Sheets went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk in a 2-1 win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Sheets has cooled off over the last several days after a hot start at the plate. He went a collective 1-for-7 in Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Royals. His one hit cleared the fences in the second game as he took Michael Wacha deep for a solo homer to lead off the sixth inning. The 27-year-old is up to three homers and nine RBI while slashing .250/.370/.545 over 54 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:53 pm

  • Vinnie Pasquantino reaches three times vs. White Sox
Vinnie Pasquantino went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks on Wednesday against the White Sox.

Advice: Pasquantino had gone 1-for-4 with a double in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the White Sox. He added another double in the second game and drew two walks. After a slow start at the dish, the 26-year-old first baseman has 12 hits over his last seven games, including three homers. He’s now slashing .262/.361/.492 across 72 plate appearances. • Cody Bellinger goes deep in victory over D’Backs
Cody Bellinger blasted a go-ahead homer in the sixth inning on Wednesday, powering the Cubs to a 5-3 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 28-year-old slugger broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning when he crushed a 396-foot (104.6 mph EV) solo shot off of Diamondbacks’ starter Brandon Pfaadt. He also singled in the eighth inning and came around to score on a run-scoring knock off the bat of Michael Busch. Bellinger finished the day 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and is now hitting .200/.296/.371 with three long balls and 12 RBI on the season. He’s still looking for his first stolen base though, after nabbing 20 bags during the 2023 season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:37 pm

  • Won't start Wednesday, Thursday
Drury won't start and will only be available to pinch hit Wednesday and Thursday against the Rays due to left hamstring tightness, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Drury may still be used as supplementary help with batting, but he will miss his third straight start come Thursday. Though his ability to still pinch hit if necessary is encouraging, the Angels are being cautious with the 31-year-old's hamstring issue, and it is still unknown if he will return to the field Friday against the Reds. • José Abreu gets lifted for pinch-hitter in eighth
After going 0-for-2 and committing a key error in the top of the eighth, José Abreu was removed for a pinch-hitter Wednesday against the Braves.

Advice: The error was a truly bad hop and might eventually get changed to a hit, but Abreu just didn’t approach it very well. This might be the last we see of him as a regular for at least a little while. He didn’t play Tuesday, and the Astros preferred Jon Singleton to him in the bottom of the eighth tonight. Singleton probably won’t wind up replacing him at first base, but Joey Loperfido might. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:55 pm
