    • Idle Tuesday
McCormick is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: McCormick has just one hit in his last 16 at-bats and will take a seat for the second time in four games. Yordan Alvarez, Jake Meyers and Mauricio Dubon fill the outfield from left to right. Rotowire.com 22 minutes ago

    • Vladdy Jr. playing third base again Tuesday
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is hitting third and playing third base Tuesday against the Orioles.

Advice: That will make two of three games that Guerrero Jr. is playing third base. The infielder has been swinging the bat better as of late, and Toronto is giving him a chance to handle the hot corner. Justin Turner is playing first base and Daniel Vogelbach will operate as the designated hitter while hitting fourth. Rotoworld Today, 12:24 pm
    • Sent down to Triple-A
Martini was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Advice: Martini will move to Louisville despite batting .258 with a home run and seven runs scored over nine games upon being called up from Triple-A on May 22. He'll be replaced on the active roster by outfielder Blake Dunn, whose contract was selected from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 11:10 am

    • Nick Martini heading back to Triple-A Louisville
Reds optioned OF Nick Martini to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Martini continues to make the short trip from Louisville to Cincinnati and back on a consistent basis. In this case, he’ll return to Triple-A with Blake Dunn called up in the corresponding transaction. Rotoworld Today, 11:05 am

    • Launches sixth homer
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Orioles.

Advice: The 25-year-old crushed a Grayson Rodriguez slider in the fourth inning, sending it over the fence in straightaway center field with an exit velocity of 109.2 mph. Guerrero is beginning to flash a little more power -- over his last 11 games, he has three doubles and two of his six homers on the year -- but he's been making plenty of hard contact, slashing .367/.452/.495 since the beginning of May with 16 RBI and 16 runs in 28 contests. • Hit hard in no-decision
Verlander did not factor into the decision in Monday's 2-1 win over the Cardinals, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts over five innings.

Advice: Verlander got into immediate trouble, allowing solo home runs to Alec Burleson and Nolan Gorman in the first inning. He labored through the next four, surrendering a total of eight hard-hit balls, including another homer by Gorman, and leaving with a 4-2 deficit. Verlander was coming off back-to-back nine-strikeout efforts, but he has now failed to reach six innings in four of his nine starts this season. In those nine games, Verlander has posted a 3.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB. He tentatively lines up for a road matchup against the Angels on Sunday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:57 pm

    • Abbott strikes out six in gets fourth win Monday
Andrew Abbott allowed three runs in six innings and picked up the win in the Reds’ 13-3 victory over the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: The win was Abbott’s fourth of the season. He gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out six. Abbott now has a quality start in three of his last four starts and a win in three of his last five starts. His ERA is now 3.39 on the season, but his xFIP is significantly higher at 4.53. Abbott has a pedestrian 18 percent strikeout percentage and has benefited from an 84 percent left on base percentage that’s likely to catch up to him at some point. The 25-year-old left-hander is set to face the Cubs at home this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:40 pm
    • Delivers quality start
Abbott (4-5) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings Monday, striking out six and earning a win over Colorado.

Advice: Abbott was charged with three runs through three frames but settled in to produce his fifth quality start of the year. Three of those quality starts have come over his last four appearances, and he matched his season best by generating 13 whiffs Monday. He had struck out just 11 batters over his previous four outings but improved his season K:BB to 52:18 with Monday's strong performance. Abbott owns a 3.39 ERA on the year and a 3.50 ERA in six starts since the beginning of May. His next start in lined up to be at home against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:24 pm
    • Verlander allows four runs in no-decision Monday
Justin Verlander allowed four runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Astros’ 7-4 victory over the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: Verlander gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out four. He allowed three home runs and has now allowed 11 home runs in 52 innings (1.90 HR/9) this season. That’s a significant uptick from the 18 home runs he allowed in 162 innings (1.00 HR/9) last year. Also troubling is Verlander’s 23 percent ground ball percentage, which would be a career-low. While his ERA is 3.63 on the season, his xFIP is over full run higher at 4.70. Verlander has benefitted from an 86 percent left on base percentage, which has helped drive his ERA down but is unlikely to last all year. The 41-year-old right-hander is set to face the Angels on the road this weekend.
