  • Mets trade for 2B Jason Kipnis has 'traction'
Chris Cotillo of SB Nation hears there is "traction" between the Mets and Indians on a Jason Kipnis trade.

Advice: The two sides have engaged in serious discussions this week at the Winter Meetings and the heat probably turned up even further when Ian Kinsler went to the Angels on Wednesday night. Kinsler had been a target of the Mets, but they were on his no-trade list and he told Tigers GM Al Avila that he would only accept a move to Anaheim. Kipnis would be a nice bounceback play for the apparently cost-conscious Metropolitans. He struggled to a .232/.291/.414 batting line in 2017 with Cleveland, but the 30-year-old second baseman put up an .817 OPS in 297 games between 2015-2016. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:04 am
  • Cardinals acquire Schrock in Piscotty deal
Cardinals acquired 2B Max Schrock and SS Yairo Munoz from the Athletics for OF Stephen Piscotty.

Advice: Schrock hasn't developed much of a power tool yet, but he boasts a well-rounded .324/.372/.439 career batting line in the minor leagues and he plays good defense at second base. The 23-year-old finished the 2017 season with the Double-A affiliate of the A's. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:23 am

  • Angels officially acquire Kinsler from Tigers
Angels acquired 2B Ian Kinsler from the Tigers for OF Troy Montgomery and RHP Wilkel Hernandez.

Advice: Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic was the first to report the deal. Kinsler, 35, hit .236/.313/.425 for the Tigers in 2017 while tallying 22 homers and stealing 14 bases in 139 games. The right-handed-hitting second baseman had to waive his no-trade clause in order for Detroit to execute this move. He could hit at or near the top of the lineup with the Angels in 2018 and greatly improves their situation at the keystone. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 8:40 pm
  • Murphy (knee) expected to be ready for OD
Nationals GM Mike Rizzo reiterated Wednesday at the Winter Meetings that Daniel Murphy (knee) is expected to be ready for Opening Day.

Advice: Murphy underwent a debridement and microfracture surgery on his right knee shortly after the Nationals were eliminated from the National League Division Series by the Cubs and he'll likely take it easy for much of spring training, but it sounds like the star second baseman could be in Washington's starting lineup on March 29 in Cincinnati. Murphy, 32, batted .322/.384/.543 with 23 home runs and 93 RBI in 144 games this past season. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 12:44 pm

  • Nunez has interest from BOS, TOR, NYY?
Eduardo Nunez is drawing free agent interest from the Red Sox, Blue Jays, and "possibly Yankees," per Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Advice: Nunez excelled in a utility role with the Giants and Red Sox in 2017, slashing .313/.341/.460 with 12 home runs and 24 stolen bases in 114 games. He battled a knee injury down the stretch, but the versatile 30-year-old is expected to be 100 percent by the start of spring training in February. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 11:09 am
