  • Brewers interested in 2B Jed Lowrie
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports the Brewers are interested in free agent second baseman Jed Lowrie.

Advice: The Brewers have an opening at second base now that Travis Shaw will be moving back to third base full time. They've previously been connected with Daniel Murphy and now they are pursuing Lowrie. Brewers' general manager David Stearns is familiar with Lowrie from their mutual time with the Astros in 2015. The 34-year-old Lowrie is coming off the best season of his career after batting .267/.353/.448 with 23 home runs and 99 RBI. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:10 pm

  • Carlos Asuaje to sign with Korean team
Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports that Carlos Asuaje is close to signing with a team in South Korea.

Advice: Asuaje just went from the Padres to the Rangers via the waiver process earlier this week, but it sounds like he's headed overseas. The 27-year-old is a career .240/.312/.329 hitter over 586 major league plate appearances. Rotoworld.com Friday, 1:45 pm
  • Padres to ink Ian Kinsler to two-year deal
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that has agreed to terms with the Padres on a two-year, $8 million contract, pending a physical.

Advice: It's a bit of a surprise that the 36-year-old got a multi-year deal, but the Padres aren't risking much money here. Kinsler batted just .240/.301/.380 with 14 home runs and 16 stolen bases last season for the Angels and Red Sox in a second straight down year at the plate. Per Rosenthal, the Padres plan to keep Luis Urias at second base and use Kinsler at third base and in a leadership role for Urias and Fernando Tatis, Jr. Rotoworld.com Friday, 12:12 pm

  • Cubs in 'strong pursuit' of Daniel Descalso
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Cubs are in "strong pursuit" of Daniel Descalso.

Advice: The Cardinals have also been connected to Descalso, so it could be a battle between the two National League Central rivals to land the utility player. Descalso has become a better hitter the last few seasons, posting a solid .238/.353/.436 batting line with 13 home runs last year in Arizona. Rotoworld.com Friday, 12:10 pm

  • Galvis, Padres reunion unlikely at this point
AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports that the Padres have discussed re-signing shortstop Freddy Galvis, but a deal appears unlikely at this time.

Advice: The Padres need a stopgap shortstop while they wait for Fernando Tatis Jr. to be ready, and it's possible that Galvis is looking for more than a one year deal because of how little there is on the shortstop market. He finished the 2018 season with a .248/.299/.380 line with 13 homers and eight steals, and he won't have fantasy relevance on whatever club he signs with. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 4:03 pm
