  • Six teams in on J.T. Realmuto trade market
According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, the J.T. Realmuto trade market is "essentially down to six teams: Reds, Mets, Rays, Braves, Dodgers, and Padres."

Advice: There was an expectation that Realmuto would be traded at some point during this week's Winter Meetings, but that's not going to happen as teams are packing up and heading out of Las Vegas. The Marlins are still sifting through offers and trying to get multiple young players in return for the 27-year-old catcher. Realmuto batted .277/.340/.484 with 21 home runs and 74 RBI over 125 games this past season with Miami. He is under control through 2020. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:48 am
  • Dodgers have 'checked in on' Wilson Ramos
Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers have "checked in on" free agent catcher Wilson Ramos.

Advice: Castillo adds, however, that the Dodgers are only interested in discussing a one-year deal with Ramos at the moment. The 31-year-old should be able to find multi-year offers on the open market this winter after batting .306/.358/.487 with 15 homers and 70 RBI over 111 games between the Rays and Phillies in 2018. There's known to be interest from the Mets and Brewers. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:44 am

  • Dodgers in touch with Pirates about Cervelli
MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports that the Dodgers have been in touch with the Pirates about a trade for catcher Francisco Cervelli.

Advice: The Dodgers are one of many teams in the mix for Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto, but they could shift their focus to Cervelli if they're unable to work something out with Miami. Gurnick also mentions free agent Nick Hundley as a potential fallback option. Cervelli delivered a strong .259/.378/.431 batting line with a career-high 12 home runs and 57 RBI over 104 games with the Pirates in 2018. He's due $11.5 million in 2019, the final year of his current deal. Rotoworld.com Today, 6:02 am
  • Posey (hip) to begin running in mid-January
Buster Posey (hip) is expected to begin running at full speed in mid-January.

Advice: Posey underwent season-ending surgery in late August to repair a microfracture and labrum tear in his right hip. He probably won't be very active during the early part of spring training, but the hope is that the six-time All-Star will be ready to rock come Opening Day. Posey, 31, batted .284/.359/.382 with just five home runs and 41 RBI over 105 games this past year for San Francisco. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:55 pm
  • Greiner expected to start at catcher for DET
Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said Wednesday that he expects Grayson Greiner to be the team's everyday catcher in 2019.

Advice: Of course, that could change if the Tigers add a catcher via trade or free agency this winter. Gardenhire noted that John Hicks would back up Greiner behind the plate and also see action at first base. Greiner, 26, slashed .219/.328/.281 with zero homers and 12 RBI over his first 116 major league plate appearances in 2018. He's not going to be much of a fantasy option.
