  • Molina notes that Yankees, Mets, others interested
In an interview with Mas Que Pelota, free agent catcher Yadier Molina mentioned that the Yankees, Mets, Padres and Angels have shown interest this offseason.

Advice: Molina, 38, also notes that he would like to return to St. Louis, and that he wants to play two more seasons. This comes a couple weeks after a report from Jon Heyman of MLB Network noting that there were 3-f4 other teams long with the Yankees, Mets and Cardinals were interested in the backstop. It still seems very likely that the potential Hall of Famer stays in St. Louis, but it doesn't appear it will be from a lack of interest.  Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:12 pm
  • Rangers claim catcher Aramis Garcia from SF
Rangers claimed C Aramis Garcia off waivers from the Giants.

Advice: Garcia was designated for assignment by San Francisco last week amid a big 40-man roster purge. The 27-year-old is a career .229/.270/.419 hitter in 111 plate appearances at the major league level. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 12:01 pm
  • Report: Blue Jays have interest in J.T. Realmuto
Craig Mish of SportsGrid reports that the Blue Jays are one of the teams expected to pursue free agent catcher J.T. Realmuto this offseason.

Advice: Mish also offered his opinion of Realmuto's top suitors, with Blue Jays on even-footing with the Mets, Phillies, and Astros. He also speculates that the Yankees and Rangers could be among the other teams involved. The Blue Jays have an excellent defensive catcher in Danny Jansen, but his lack of progress at the plate could have them looking at alternatives. Realmuto would be a great one, but he's going to be costly. He's on track to top Joe Mauer's record $23 million AAV for a catcher this offseason, almost certainly topping $100 million in total value. The Jays might not be able or willing to hang with some of the big spenders. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 10:17 am
  • Twins add Ben Rortvedt to 40-man roster on Friday
Twins purchased the contract of C Ben Rortvedt.

Advice: The move protects the 23-year-old backstop from being taken in the Rule-5 draft. Rortvedt -- who was the Twins' second round pick in the 2016 draft -- struggled with the bat in 2019, slashing just .238/.334/.379 with seven homers and 29 RBI in 320 plate appearances between High-A Fort Myers and Double-A Pensacola. • Blue Jays add Gabriel Moreno to 40-man roster
Blue Jays purchased the contract of C Gabriel Moreno.

Advice: The 20-year-old Moreno is just one of many talented young catching prospects in the Blue Jays' organization. He's coming off a 2019 season where he slashed .280/.337/.485 with 12 homers, 52 RBI and seven swipes over 82 games at Class-A Lansing. Moreno is now protected from being taken in the upcoming Rule-5 draft. Rotoworld.com Friday, 10:27 pm
