Player Notes

  • Matt Waldron gives up five in loss to Jays
Matt Waldron gave up five runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Friday.

Advice: Waldron walked just one, but he also struck out just two hitters while throwing 58-of-96 pitches for strikes. The right-hander had been very effective in his previous two outings while allowing just two runs — only one earned — over 10 innings, but Toronto was able to get to him for a run in the first and four more in the second. Waldron will try and rebound next week, but it’s worth noting that start comes against the Rockies in Colorado. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago
  • Out with elbow strain
Kent was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Columbus on Friday due to a right elbow strain.

Advice: Kent presumably suffered the injury during his last appearance April 14, when he delivered a scoreless inning against Louisville. The right-hander will be out for at least the next week, but there's a decent chance he misses more time since it's an elbow injury. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago
  • Walks four in no-decision
Gibson yielded a run on three hits and four walks over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out three in the loss to Milwaukee.

Advice: Gibson was tagged with a run in the third inning but otherwise didn't face much trouble in the quality start. He was in line for a tough-luck loss before the Cardinals pushed the game to extra innings. After earning a win in his Cardinals debut, Gibson was hammered for 11 runs over his last two starts. Friday's outing lowered his ERA to 5.04 with a 14:10 K:BB through 25 frames. Gibson is currently projected to face Arizona at home next week. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago
  • Fires six shutout innings
Peralta allowed four hits and two walks over six scoreless frames in a no-decision Friday. He struck out seven in the win over St. Louis.

Advice: Peralta was in line for his third win of the year before the Cardinals tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. The 27-year-old has been terrific to begin the 2024 campaign, registering a 1.90 ERA with a 33:4 K:BB over 23.2 frames. He's forced double-digit whiffs in each of his four starts this season, including 13 on Friday. Peralta is lined up to start in Pittsburgh next week. Rotowire.com Today, 8:53 pm
  • Fans 10 in no-decision
Flaherty allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out 10 during the win over Minnesota.

Advice: Flaherty was tagged with a two-run shot in the first inning but turned in four shutout frames after that. The Twins later pushed across two unearned runs in the sixth. Flaherty's produced a terrific 30:3 K:BB through 24.1 innings this season. That 11.1 K/9 is currently a career-high and his first time producing a double-digit number in that category since the 2020 campaign. He also set a new season high with 19 whiffs. Flaherty is currently in line to take the mound in Tampa Bay next week. Rotowire.com Today, 8:35 pm
