Advice: Jackson landed on the injured list nearly three weeks ago after suffering a lower back strain during an Opening Day relief appearance against the Padres. Advice: The rookie right-hander will receive another turn through the White Sox rotation after he acquitted himself well in his MLB debut Monday, striking out five and allowing two earned runs on three hits and two walks over five innings in a no-decision against the Royals. Though Nastrini was able to pound the zone effectively Monday, fantasy managers may want to tread cautiously with him, given the control issues he's displayed for much of his minor-league career. Between stops as the Triple-A and Double-A levels within the White Sox and Dodgers organizations in 2023, Nastrini posted a 10.8 percent walk rate over 114.2 innings. Volume Up: Paul Skenes strikes out eight at AAAPirates RHP prospect Paul Skenes recorded eight strikeouts over 3 1/3 scoreless innings on Thursday for Triple-A Indianapolis.
Advice: Just a few hours after Pirates general manager Ben Cherington told reporters he needed to continue building up volume in the minors, Skenes delivered another masterful performance, allowing just three baserunners and striking out eight of the 14 batters he faced. He touched triple digits a staggering 34 times on 65 pitches (37 strikes), generating 11 swinging strikes and finishing with a near-elite 37 percent CSW. Rebounds for fifth saveClase earned the save in Thursday's 5-4 win over Boston, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
Advice: It was an encouraging effort from Clase after he'd blown his previous two save opportunities. Despite his recent rough patch, the 26-year-old Clase has been excellent overall to start the year, allowing just one earned run through his first nine innings while striking out seven as he improves to 5-for-7 in save chances. Takes loss in bulk roleCriswell (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the Guardians, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk over 2.1 innings.
Advice: While Criswell didn't miss many bats in his brief outing, the Red Sox defense didn't do him any favors, as they committed a pair of errors behind the right-hander resulting in three unearned runs. The 27-year-old Criswell sports a 4.26 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP and 4:2 K:BB through his first 6.1 innings this season.
