Player Notes

  • Chris Marrero designated for assignment
Giants designated 1B/OF Chris Marrero for assignment.

Advice: Marrero earned an Opening Day roster spot with a big spring, but he failed miserably in his chances in left field, hitting just .132/.171/.211 over 41 plate appearances. He could clear waivers and stick around in the organization. Rotoworld.com 18 minutes ago
  • Miguel Sano to appeal one-game suspension
Major League Baseball has suspended Miguel Sano one game for his involvement in an altercation during Saturday's game versus the Tigers.

Advice: Sano took exception to a Matt Boyd pitch that went behind him and then gave a hard shove to James McCann after the catcher intervened. The Twins' third baseman is in Monday's lineup and will continue to play until his appeal is heard. Rotoworld.com Today, 2:47 pm
  • Bryce Harper getting a day off on Monday
Bryce Harper is not in the Nationals' lineup Monday.

Advice: It's Harper's first day off of the season, as he had started each of the team's first 18 games. The timing is unfortunate for his fantasy owners given that the day off comes at Coors Field. Adam Eaton will slide over to right field and Michael Taylor will get a start in center. The Nationals also have Jose Lobaton at catcher over Matt Wieters. Rotoworld.com Today, 2:12 pm
  • Alex Gordon hitting sixth again Monday
Alex Gordon is batting sixth for the Royals for the second straight game Monday.

Advice: Gordon had hit leadoff in every game prior to Sunday, but he's been among the worst regulars in the game so far this season with an ugly .169/.244/.211 batting line. Whit Merrifield is in the leadoff spot for the second game in a row and might remain there for a while as the Royals attempt to jump-start a stagnant offense. Rotoworld.com Today, 1:16 pm
  • Cespedes says he'll be ready for Tuesday
Mets manager Terry Collins said after Sunday's game that Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) told him he'll be ready for Tuesday.

Advice: Cespedes sat out the entire weekend series against the Nationals due to a sore left hamstring, but he was available as a pinch-hitter for Sunday's game and was in the on-deck circle before the final out. It's not a sure thing he'll be ready for Tuesday, as the Mets will have him go through a pre-game workout before making a final decision. Still, he's sorely missed at the moment, as the Mets have dropped eight out of their last nine. Rotoworld.com Today, 5:36 am
