  • Begins serving suspension Wednesday
Siri's (thigh) had his three-game suspension reduced to two games following an appeal and began serving the ban in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Brewers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Siri was handed the suspension as a result of his role in Tuesday's bench-clearing brawl with the Brewers. He ended up being held out of the lineup Wednesday with a sore left thigh, and that game will count toward his time served for the suspension. He'll serve the final game of his suspension Friday against the Mets, but he should be ready to play Saturday, assuming the thigh issue isn't still presenting complications for him. • Angels designate Zac Kristofak for assignment
Angels designated RHP Zac Kristofak for assignment.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler was optioned to Triple-A earlier in the week, but now he gets the boot from the 40-man roster as well to make room for Willie Calhoun on Wednesday. There’s a chance that a team in need of bullpen depth could take a flier on him on waivers. Rotoworld Today, 1:11 pm
  • Starting at shortstop Wednesday
Brujan will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Brujan had been set to get the day off, but he'll be pressed into the starting nine at shortstop after Tim Anderson (thumb) was scratched from the lineup. Rotowire.com Today, 1:08 pm
  • Kenta Maeda fans six, gets first victory
Kenta Maeda limited the Cardinals to one run in six innings and struck out five in the Tigers’ 4-1 victory Wednesday.

Advice: It’s his first win in six tries this season. Pitching with a couple of extra days of rest, Maeda had a little more velocity today, topping out at 91.6 mph, and he wound up with a nice 34% CSW in the 79-pitch outing. He’ll pitch in Cleveland next time out, making him a mediocre mixed-league play. Rotoworld Today, 1:08 pm
  • Alex Lange gets four-out save against Cardinals
Alex Lange got four outs for his second save Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Jason Foley had pitched three of the previous four days, so Lange got the call today. Since giving up five unearned runs in the 12th inning in a loss on Apr. 13, Lange has pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings with a 9/2 K/BB ratio in seven appearances. Rotoworld Today, 1:08 pm
  • Matt Vierling homers, knocks in three runs
Matt Vierling went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a sac fly against the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Advice: The homer was on a truly awful curveball from Miles Mikolas. That was the third hardest-hit ball of the game. His first-inning single was the second hardest at 109.9 mph, trailing only a Willson Contreras homer. Vierling has always shown ample power, but he’s lifting the ball more often this year and he’s off to a nice start at .282/.311/.447. The Tigers will likely want to keep him in the lineup regularly after Gio Urshela returns. Rotoworld Today, 1:08 pm
  • Miles Mikolas surrenders three runs in loss
Miles Mikolas yielded three runs in six innings Wednesday in a loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Mikolas isn’t going to win many games by himself, and the run support isn’t there right now when he turns in an outing like this. The Cardinals have scored a total of 18 runs in the seven games he’s started this year. Mikolas is 2-4 with a 5.68 ERA. Rotoworld Today, 1:08 pm
  • Nolan Gorman goes 0-for-3 against Tigers
Nolan Gorman went 0-for-3 in the loss to the Tigers on Wednesday, dropping his average to .190.

Advice: Statcast thinks Gorman has been fairly unlucky, but his strikeout rate remains terrible and he’s not hitting the ball hard as consistently as he did last year. The Cardinals should stick with him for now, but they might consider sending him down if he’s still not hitting once Tommy Edman returns. Rotoworld Today, 1:08 pm
  • Angels place Miguel Sanó (knee) on 10-day IL
Angels placed INF Miguel Sanó on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 28, with left knee inflammation.

Advice: The Angels had been playing a man down while the 30-year-old slugger was hobbled by a knee injury, but they simply couldn’t do it any longer. Willie Calhoun had his contract selected from Triple-A Salt Lake to take his place on the active roster. Rotoworld Today, 1:07 pm
