  • Arcia hits RBI double, two-run homer vs. CIN
Orlando Arcia finished 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI in the Brewers' defeat of the Reds on Wednesday.

Advice: Arcia contributed an RBI double to the Brewers' five-run outburst in the bottom of the first inning before socking a two-run homer in the bottom of the third. The young shortstop got off to a slow start this season and is still batting just .229/.260/.371 in 21 games overall. We wouldn't expect a full-on breakout in 2017. Today, 1:47 pm
  • Peralta yields four homers in win vs. Reds
Wily Peralta allowed four earned runs over five innings Wednesday in a win over the Reds.

Advice: Peralta was backed by five first-inning runs (and nine runs total) from the Milwaukee offense. He walked two and surrendered eight hits, including four solo home runs. The right-hander got off to a nice start this season, but he's been roughed up in two straight starts against divisional opponents. A road matchup against the Cardinals is next. Today, 1:41 pm
  • Feliz works scoreless inning versus Reds
Neftali Feliz worked a scoreless inning in a non-save situation Wednesday versus the Reds.

Advice: Milwaukee was ahead 9-4 when Feliz entered the game in the top of the ninth, and he sealed that as the final score with quick three outs. The right-hander blew his first save of the season in brutal fashion last week against the Cubs, but he looks to be back on track now. Today, 1:36 pm
  • Mariners recall Ben Gamel from Tacoma
Mariners recalled OF Ben Gamel from Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: Gamel was off to a decent start this season at Triple-A and will give the Mariners much-needed outfield depth in the absence of Mitch Haniger, who landed on the disabled list Wednesday with a right oblique strain. Today, 12:21 pm
  • White Sox activate, option Juan Minaya
White Sox activated RHP Juan Minaya from the 10-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.

Advice: Minaya made a hitless rehab appearance on Tuesday night, but the White Sox don't currently have a spot for him in their bullpen. The right-hander had been on the disabled list since Opening Day with an abdominal strain. Today, 12:14 pm

  • Felix Hernandez (shoulder) put on 10-day DL
Mariners placed RHP Felix Hernandez on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

Advice: Hernandez experienced fatigue in his right shoulder Tuesday during a rough two-inning outing against the Tigers. He's flown back to Seattle for an MRI, and the results of that exam should tell us more about his recovery timetable. The veteran right-hander holds a 4.73 ERA and 1.58 WHIP through 26 2/3 innings (five starts) this season. Today, 12:10 pm
    10-Day DL
  • Mets recall Matt Reynolds from Vegas
Mets recalled INF/OF Matt Reynolds from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Reynolds was batting .300/.364/.360 in 55 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level. The versatile 26-year-old will give the Mets position player depth. Today, 12:02 pm
  • Pedroia (knee, ankle) sits again Wednesday
Dustin Pedroia (knee, ankle) remains out of the Red Sox starting lineup on Wednesday.

Advice: Pedroia hasn't played since injuring his knee and ankle last Friday on a hard slide by Manny Machado. The rainy forecast at Fenway Park played a role in his continued absence Wednesday, though the veteran second baseman also still has some lingering soreness. Today, 11:42 am
  • Mariners option Chris Heston to AAA Tacoma
Mariners optioned RHP Chris Heston to Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: Heston gave up five earned runs in two innings of mop-up duty Tuesday night against the Tigers. It was his first appearance at the major league level in 2017. The 29-year-old right-hander should get another look eventually. Today, 11:37 am

  • Clayton Kershaw hard on rivals in win
Clayton Kershaw allowed one earned run, six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over seven innings in a win at San Francisco on Tuesday.

Advice: Kershaw has four quality starts in five outings this season with the only exception coming at Coors Field back on April 8. He has at least six strikeouts in each of his five appearances while lasting at least seven frames in four of his starts. Kershaw continues to produce well for fantasy owners who looked to him in the early rounds. Yesterday, 11:44 pm
  • Mike Trout reaches seats in extras
Mike Trout posted a solo home run in the 10th inning in Tuesday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Trout's blast erased a deficit, forcing an 11th inning. The Halos ended up winning thanks to a Kole Calhoun RBI single, giving manager Mike Scioscia his 1,500th victory as manager in Anaheim. Trout has hit safely in nine straight and 14 of the past 15 contests. Yesterday, 11:26 pm
  • Kole Calhoun provides extra-innings heroics
Kole Calhoun managed just one hit in five at-bats Tuesday against the Athletics but that one hit was the game-winning RBI single in the 11th inning.

Advice: Calhoun started off on fire, but he is just 5-for-41 (.122) over the past 11 outings to drop his average to just .215 on the season. Perhaps the game-winning knock will give him a little more confidence and get him going again. The RBI was just his second since April 8. Yesterday, 11:22 pm
  • German Marquez punished by Nationals
German Marquez was hammered for eight earned runs, nine hits and three walks with just two strikeouts over four innings in a loss against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: Marquez managed to throw just 51 of his 85 pitches for strikes. He had been cruising along with solid numbers at Triple-A Albuquerque, but he was beaten up pretty badly against the star-studded Washington lineup in the rarefied air in Denver. The team is undecided about Sunday's starter in Arizona with Jon Gray (foot) on the shelf. It's possible Marquez could get another chance, but he isn't worth a roll of the dice in most fantasy formats and DFS play. Yesterday, 10:57 pm
  • Brandon Drury collects three more hits
Brandon Drury finished 3-for-5 with a double in Tuesday's victory against the Padres.

Advice: Drury raised his average to .300 with the three-hit night, but it wasn't all great. He also struck out twice to give him 13 strikeouts over the past 14 games. He is considered below average defensively so he needs to keep hitting. So far, so good, as he upped his season average to an even .300. As long as he keeps his batting average up he will play regularly and serve as a solid stopgap middle infielder in most NL-only fantasy formats. Yesterday, 10:18 pm
  • Brandon Moss hits third homer
Brandon Moss hit his third homer Tuesday in garbage time against the White Sox.

Advice: It came off Chris Beck down 10-3 in the ninth, but Moss will take it. He struck out twice more tonight after entering the game with strikeouts in six straight at-bats. Yesterday, 10:17 pm
  • A.J. Pollock sets the table nicely in victory
A.J. Pollock went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 9-3 win against the Padres.

Advice: Pollock also swiped a pair of bases to give him six thefts on the season, including five over the past seven outings. He has recorded six multi-hit games over his past eight outings dating back to April 17, raising his average from .196 to .302 in a big hurry. Yesterday, 10:09 pm
  • Kennys Vargas goes 2-for-3, homers
Kennys Vargas went 2-for-3 with a homer Tuesday against the Rangers.

Advice: ByungHo Park should outhit Vargas given the chance, but that doesn't mean Vargas can't contribute. It just remains to be seen how many at-bats he'll get, what with Robbie Grossman off to a great start in the DH spot. Yesterday, 10:06 pm
  • Patrick Corbin whiffs nine in Tuesday's win
Patrick Corbin allowed two earned runs, eight hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over seven innings in a win Tuesday against the Padres.

Advice: Corbin has 17 strikeouts over his past two outings, both against San Diego. It shouldn't be terribly surprising considering the Padres offense entered the day third in the National League in strikeouts. He had just seven total strikeouts over his first three starts in 16 total innings. Corbin isn't a high strikeout pitcher but he is good at limiting the damage. He has also allowed just three homers over 29 innings. Yesterday, 9:59 pm
  • Ian Kinsler scores four times in win
Ian Kinsler went 4-for-5 with a double and four runs scored as the Tigers clobbered the Mariners 19-9 on Tuesday.

Advice: Kinsler upped his average from .217 to .262 tonight. That's nothing special, but his OBP is sitting at .400, thanks to 14 walks in 18 games. That's a huge improvement from recent years; he walked an average of 39 times per season from 2014-16. Yesterday, 9:46 pm
  • Jose Martinez homers off the bench Tuesday
Jose Martinez hit his first major league home run on Tuesday versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: It was a big one, as Martinez didn't start but entered as part of a double switch and delivered a game-tying, two-run shot in the seventh inning. Martinez had a chance to be a hero again in the 11th but flied out to end it with the tying run on second base. Martinez (.375/.429/.531) has clearly outplayed Randal Grichuk (.229/.270/.400) so far, but to this point the Cardinals haven't really shown an inclination to give the 28-year-old more starts in left field.
