  • Red Sox transfer Robbie Ross to 60-day DL
Red Sox transferred LHP Robbie Ross to the 60-day disabled list.

Advice: Nothing has changed in the recovery for the left-hander, this was done merely as a procedural move to free up a roster spot for the promotion of Rafael Devers on Monday. Today, 9:26 pm
    10-Day DL
  • Red Sox option Kyle Martin back to Triple-A
Red Sox optioned RHP Kyle Martin to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Advice: Martin was only with the club for a couple of days as an extra bullpen arm. The 26-year-old owns a 3.86 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 1/2 K/BB ratio in 2 1/3 innings at the big league level this season. He should get another chance with the Red Sox when rosters expand in September. Today, 9:25 pm
  • Wade Davis locks down 20th save on Sunday
Wade Davis locked down his 20th save of the season on Sunday, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a two-run advantage against the Cardinals.

Advice: Davis allowed a leadoff single to Paul DeJong, but no damage came from it. The 31-year-old now boasts a 2.12 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 48/16 K/BB ratio across 34 innings on the season. Today, 8:13 pm
  • Ross Stripling allows one run in long relief
Coming on to replace an injured Clayton Kershaw (back), Ross Stripling tossed three innings of one-run ball in Sunday's 10-inning win over the Braves.

Advice: Kershaw managed just two innings before a tight back forced him out of action. Enter Stripling, who struck out two, walked two and allowed two hits (including an RBI double to Brandon Phillips) over his three innings of work. He owns a 3.55 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 27 appearances this season. Today, 5:07 pm
  • Justin Wilson secures 12th save on Sunday
Justin Wilson secured his 12th save of the season on Sunday, allowing one run on one hit and a walk over 1 1/3 innings against the Twins.

Advice: Wilson was summoned to get the final out in the eighth inning with the Tigers leading by a run, then was left on to finish the ninth. He racked up three strikeouts in his outing. His name continues to be very popular on the trade front and it looks increasingly likely that he'll be donning a new uniform in August. Today, 3:38 pm
  • Bridwell effective over seven frames vs. BOS
Parker Bridwell allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings in Sunday's win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Bridwell was not striking out batters left and right in this one, finishing with just three of them (against one walk) over his seven innings of work. He was fantastic nonetheless. Deven Marrero knocked him for an RBI single in the fifth and Hanley Ramirez socked a solo homer off the right-hander in the sixth, but that was all she wrote in terms of scoring on Bridwell's watch. He will bring a 3.09 ERA and 1.29 WHIP (seven starts) into a home date with the Blue Jays in his next scheduled outing. Today, 2:54 pm
  • Bundy lit up for seven earned by Astros
Dylan Bundy was lit up for seven earned runs over 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Astros.

Advice: Bundy issued three walks and surrendered eight hits, including a pair of homers, but Baltimore's offense generated nine runs on 14 hits in the eventual 9-7 victory. Bundy watched his season ERA jump from 4.18 to 4.53 in this one. He'll try for better results next week at Texas. Today, 2:48 pm
  • Leclerc earns second save Sunday vs. TB
Jose Leclerc earned his second save of the year on Sunday afternoon against the Rays.

Advice: Leclerc issued two walks but netted two strikeouts in a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning at Tropicana Field. He's been sharing ninth-inning duties lately with Alex Claudio, though Keone Kela could also factor into the closer mix down the stretch in Texas. Today, 2:30 pm
  • Boxberger allows three runs in the eighth
Brad Boxberger allowed three earned runs in the top of the eighth inning Sunday as the Rays fell to the visiting Rangers.

Advice: Tampa Bay was leading 5-3 when Boxberger was handed the ball, and he surrendered back-to-back homers to Rougned Odor and Carlos Gomez as Texas jumped ahead 6-5. The right-hander took a blown save and the loss. Today, 2:27 pm
  • Montero allows three homers in loss to OAK
Rafael Montero surrendered three runs over seven innings Sunday in a loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Montero gave up three solo home runs as the Mets fell 3-2 to the visiting A's. He's now 1-7 on the season with a 5.19 ERA, 1.73 WHIP, and 52/26 K/BB ratio in 52 innings. A road start against the Mariners comes next. Today, 2:09 pm
  • Neil Ramirez outrighted to Triple-A
Mets sent RHP Neil Ramirez outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Ramirez cleared waivers after being removed from the 40-man roster and will accept an outright assignment. He's struck out well over a batter per inning with a few clubs this season but has also posted a 7.18 ERA. Today, 6:16 am

  • Reymin Guduan optioned to Triple-A
Astros optioned LHP Reymin Guduan to Triple-A Fresno.

Advice: Guduan has allowed seven runs over eight relief innings this season. He'll be back eventually. Today, 6:00 am

  • Wily Peralta activated from disabled list
Brewers activated RHP Wily Peralta from the 10-day disabled list.

Advice: Peralta missed the last month with a strained calf. He'll be used in middle relief. Today, 5:57 am
  • Rob Scahill designated for assignment
Brewers designated RHP Rob Scahill for assignment.

Advice: It's the second time in the last month and third time since January that he's been designated for assignment. Scahill can elect free agency if he wants. Today, 5:55 am

  • Buddy Baumann activated from disabled list
Padres activated LHP Buddy Baumann from the 60-day disabled list.

Advice: Baumann has been out nearly all season with a back injury. He'll give the Padres some left-handed relief depth. Today, 5:43 am
  • Edwin Diaz blows save against Bombers
Edwin Diaz allowed an earned run, a hit and a walk while blowing a save in the ninth inning on Saturday against the Yankees.

Advice: Diaz threw 15 of his 23 pitches for strikes, but he blew his fourth save chance of the season. Despite the shaky appearance he is not close to being on thin ice for his closer's job in Seattle. Today, 2:56 am
  • J.C. Ramirez shows well at home
J.C. Ramirez allowed three runs - one earned - and five hits with three walks and six strikeouts across six innings in a win against the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Ramirez has alternated wins and losses in the month of July, posting quality starts in two of his past three outings while lasting at least six innings in each appearance. The win at home was a rarity, as he is still just 2-5 with a 5.10 ERA over 10 starts and one relief appearance at the Big A. He is 7-3 with a 3.60 ERA in nine starts and two relief outings. His next scheduled start is set for July 27 in Cleveland. Today, 1:37 am
  • Ramos tosses scoreless ninth inning for save
A.J. Ramos protected a one-run lead in the ninth inning to earn a save against the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: He issued a two-out walk to Zack Cozart but followed that by striking out superstar Joey Votto to end the threat. Ramos has been mentioned in a flurry of trade rumors in recent days. He has a 3.86 ERA with 19 saves on the season. Yesterday, 10:30 pm
  • Stephenson lets in five runs in 5 1/3 on Sat.
Robert Stephenson coughed up five runs in 5 1/3 innings and was charged with a loss to the Marlins in his first start of the season on Saturday.

Advice: He might have been OK if he hadn't had to face J.T. Realmuto in the ballgame. The Marlins' backstop ripped Stephenson for a pair of two-run homers to single-handedly ruin his day. Stephenson allowed eight hits and two walks while notching five strikeouts. He spent time in the Reds' bullpen early in the season, fared poorly and was sent back to Triple-A to pitch in the rotation. He turned in a 3.79 ERA in 40 1/3 innings on the farm and was rewarded with a call to the majors. The rebuilding Reds will probably give him some more chances but fantasy owners should look elsewhere. He has an 8.10 ERA and 1.97 ERA with 32 strikeouts and nine home runs in 30 major-league innings this year. Yesterday, 10:08 pm
  • Brach gives up two runs in non-save situation
Brad Brach was used in a non-save situation on Saturday and allowed two runs -- one earned -- on three hits.

Advice: He was brought in to pitch the ninth inning with his team trailing by two runs. He surrendered three singles and a sacrifice fly. One of the runs was unearned thanks to an error by third baseman Manny Machado. Brach has served as the team's closer for most of the season while Zach Britton recovered from an injury. Brach has 16 saves, a 2.76 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 43 1/3 innings. Yesterday, 9:37 pm
