  • Taylor Motter crunches grand slam in victory
Taylor Motter went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and a double in Sunday's 11-1 win over the A's.

Advice: Motter unloaded for the grand slam against the previously-untouchable Andrew Triggs in the third inning. That gave the Mariners a 6-1 lead, one which the A's were unable to ever challenge to any serious degree. The 27-year-old shortstop owns a .255/.321/.667 triple-slash to pair with five home runs and 12 RBI across 51 at-bats. His start has been one of the more surprising in the bigs to date. Today, 5:17 pm
  • Ryan Goins socks two-run home run vs. Angels
Ryan Goins went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Angels.

Advice: Goins' two-run home run in the ninth inning served as insurance in boosting the Jays to a 6-1 advantage. They would ultimately go on to win 6-2. This was Goins' first homer of the season and supplied his first two RBI in the process. Having received just 20 at-bats to date, there is no fantasy intrigue here. Today, 4:01 pm
  • Trevor Story comes through w/ two-run single
Trevor Story went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in Sunday's win over the Giants.

Advice: The Rockies were already leading 4-0 when Story stepped to the plate with two on and one out against Jeff Samardzija in the sixth inning. He proceeded to pick up an RBI single, driving Samardzija from the game in the process. It was a brief ray of sunshine in what has otherwise been a miserable start to the season for Story, who is hitting just .154/.257/.400 over 65 at-bats. In that space, he has whiffed 29 times. The power is still there -- he launched a grand slam on Friday for his fourth home run of the season -- but the occasional power connection is just about all he has going for him these days. Today, 3:14 pm
  • Orlando Arcia finishes 0-for-3 vs. STL
Orlando Arcia finished 0-for-3 with a strikeout Sunday in the Brewers' loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Arcia is batting just .210/.234/.306 in 18 games to open the 2017 season. He's a nice young player, but it could take years for the offense to catch up with his excellent defense. Today, 2:41 pm
  • Tim Anderson has two hits in win over Indians
Tim Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored as the White Sox beat the Indians on Sunday.

Advice: Anderson also drew a walk in the contest and struck out twice. He's off to a rough start at the plate, so this performance was a welcomed sign for fantasy owners. Even with the two-hit day, he's only slashing .194/.217/.269 on the season. He'll get every opportunity to succeed though and continues to occupy the top spot in the White Sox lineup. Today, 2:34 pm
  • Lindo clubs fifth homer in loss to White Sox
Francisco Lindor clubbed his fifth home run of the season in a losing effort against the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: The Tribe was unable to complete their three-game sweep of the White Sox but Lindor continued his hot-hitting. His fourth-inning blast off of Derek Holland was the only offense they were able to generate against the White Sox' starter. Lindor also singled, finishing the afternoon 2-for-4. He's now hitting .315/.373/.616 with five homers and 12 RBI. He didn't hit his fifth home run of 2016 until June 4. Today, 2:27 pm
  • Zack Cozart scratched with sore wrist
Zack Cozart was scratched from Sunday's lineup with a sore left wrist.

Advice: It's the same issue that cost him a couple games earlier this month. Jose Peraza has moved over to shortstop, Scooter Gennett will move from left field to second base and Patrick Kivlehan enters the lineup in left. Today, 8:54 am
  • Didi Gregorius (shoulder) on rehab assignment
Didi Gregorius (shoulder) has gone 2-for-6 at the plate while playing six innings in each game in his first two rehab contests with High-A Tampa.

Advice: Working his way back from a right shoulder strain, Gregorius is expected to be activated from the disabled list in early May assuming all goes well. Ronald Torreyes has been filling in at shortstop for the Yankees. Today, 6:41 am
    10-Day DL
  • Andrelton Simmons drives in four runs
Andrelton Simmons finished 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's win against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Simmons entered the game with a total of three RBI over his first 17 games so don't get terribly excited over his power potential. He remains nothing more than a useful middle infielder option in AL-only play for his solid average, handful of steals and occasional RBI. Yesterday, 11:42 pm
  • Gyorko has RBI triple, run against Brewers
Jedd Gyorko had an RBI triple and a run scored in a win over the Brewers on Saturday.

Advice: Both actually came on the same play, as Gyorko laced a triple into the right field corner that Brewers outfielder Domingo Santana had trouble digging out. Gyorko then hustled home when the throw got away from the infielders. With the Cardinals struggling for offense and the 28-year-old hitting .310/.396/.643 with three homers in 14 games, Gyorko should be an everyday player for the Birds for the foreseeable future and can be treated as such in fantasy leagues. • Andrus comes through with walk-off single
Elvis Andrus delivered a game-winning, walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Rangers past the Royals 2-1 on Saturday.

Advice: Andrus was hitless in three at-bats in the game before coming to the dish in the ninth -- in fact, he was hitless in his last 12 at-bats overall -- against Peter Moylan. The shortstop pulled a breaking ball down the left field line for what was scored as a single but would have been an extra-base hit had Rougned Odor not raced around to score the winning run. Andrus began the year hot but has cooled in recent days, batting .275/.296/.493 in 17 games overall. Yesterday, 9:34 pm
  • Beckham goes 3-for-4 with an RBI Saturday
Tim Beckham went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Astros.

Advice: He tripled in the third but was left stranded. He singled and scored in the fifth. He stroked an RBI single in the sixth and came around to score on a Peter Bourjos single. Beckham is getting everyday playing time while Matt Duffy recuperates from injury. He is batting .254/.267/.407 with two home runs, eight runs scored and five RBI in 61 plate appearances. • Torreyes goes 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run
Ronald Torreyes went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 11-5 bashing of the Pirates.

Advice: He had three singles and a sixth-inning double that plated two runs. He rode home on a three-run blast off the bat of pinch-hitter Chris Carter in the eighth inning. Torreyes has been getting everyday playing time at shortstop in the absence of Didi Gregorius and has made the most of his opportunity. He is batting .296/.296/.444 with one homer and 13 RBI in 54 plate appearances. Yesterday, 6:11 pm

  • Strained hamstring sends Tulowitzki to DL
Blue Jays placed SS Troy Tulowitzki on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Advice: Tulowitzki joins Josh Donaldson (calf), Aaron Sanchez (finger) and J.A. Happ (elbow) among the Blue Jays' walking wounded. He suffered the injury Friday while running to third base on a wild pitch by Cam Bedrosian. Manager John Gibbons said the new 10-day rule was "definitely a factor" in placing Tulowitzki on the DL. Utility man Ryan Goins is starting in his place Saturday against the Angels. Yesterday, 6:06 pm
    10-Day DL
  • Turner goes 2-for-5 with an RBI vs Mets
Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's win over the Mets.

Advice: He stroked a fifth-inning double to plate Adam Eaton, then scored on a single by Ryan Zimmerman. This was his first start since being activated off the disabled list on Friday. Turner was off to a slow start in six games before the hamstring injury. Today's good game boosted his slash line up to .208/.240/.292 with zero homers and two RBI. He has three stolen bases as well. • Crawford to go on bereavement leave soon
Brandon Crawford will be placed on bereavement leave next week.

Advice: Crawford will be away from the team while he attends funeral services for his sister-in-law, who passed away last week. At most, he’ll miss three games. Eduardo Nunez will likely handle shortstop in Crawford’s absence. Yesterday, 5:21 pm
  • Adeiny Hechavarria riding the pine Saturday
Adeiny Hechavarria is not in the Marlins' lineup Saturday against the Padres.

Advice: He's missing a juicy matchup against soft-throwing Jered Weaver. Hechavarria went 0-for-3 in his return Friday after missing a little over a week with strained oblique. Miguel Rojas will man shortstop and bat eighth on Saturday. Yesterday, 3:11 pm
  • Corey Seager sitting against Robbie Ray
Corey Seager is not in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The Dodgers are stacking their lineup with right-handed bats against southpaw Robbie Ray. Enrique Hernandez is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff on Saturday. Seager has had a strong opening month, hitting .308 in the early going with three homers and 14 RBI. Yesterday, 2:35 pm
  • Aledmys Diaz getting another day off Saturday
Aledmys Diaz is not in the Cardinals' lineup Saturday against the Brewers.

Advice: Diaz has been scuffling lately, hitting just .148 over his last 27 at-bats. Greg Garcia will fill in at shortstop and bat leadoff against Brewers right-hander Chase Anderson on Saturday. Yesterday, 1:21 pm
  • Bogaerts (thumb) returns to Red Sox lineup
Xander Bogaerts (thumb) is back in the Red Sox lineup Saturday against the Orioles.

Advice: He jammed his thumb sliding into second Thursday against Toronto. Bogaerts didn't start Friday's series opener but appeared as a defensive replacement later in the game. He'll bat leadoff with Dustin Pedroia (leg) getting the day off on Saturday. Bogaerts holds a .333 average this year, but only one of his 16 hits has gone for extra bases. Yesterday, 1:09 pm
