  • Homer, three steals in win
De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, three stolen bases and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-1 victory over the Angels.

Advice: De La Cruz turned a two-out single into the Reds' first run in the second inning, stealing second base before swiping third and scoring on an errant throw. The 22-year-old shortstop would add a third stolen base in the fourth before breaking the game open with a three-run homer off Jose Cisnero in the eighth. De La Cruz has lived up to expectations early this year -- he's now slashing .290/.364/.638 with six homers, 18 runs scored and 14 RBI while going 10-for-12 in stolen base attempts. • Wilyer Abreu goes 3-for-4, hits first homer
Wilyer Abreu went 3-for-5 with a homer and a double against the Pirates in Friday’s win.

Advice: The double just missed being a second homer. Abreu had an ugly spring with a chance to win a starting job and then opened the regular season 2-for-18 with nine strikeouts, something that could have led to an early demotion. However, he’s 8-for-25 with five extra-base hits, four walks and four steals in his last eight games, raising his season OPS to .722. If he keeps hitting, he could be an everyday guy, especially now that Ceddanne Rafaela is needed in the infield. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago
  • Ceddanne Rafaela homers, steals base in win
Ceddanne Rafaela collected his first homer, drove in a run on a groundout and stole a base Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Rafaela has not been having very good at-bats, but he’s not going anywhere. He’s Boston’s best defensive center fielder, probably also their best defensive shortstop with Trevor Story down and the eight-year extension he signed last week means there’s no incentive for ever returning him to the minors. Mixed-league value isn’t there yet, but perhaps it will be in the second half. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago
  • Juan Soto powers Yankees past Rays on Friday night
Juan Soto clubbed his fifth home run of the season on Friday night, powering the Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the Rays.

Advice: The Yankees entered the seventh inning trailing 1-0 on Friday night, but they utilized a couple of errors to scratch out a pair of runs to take the lead, then Soto blew the game open with a mammoth 409-foot (110.9 mph EV) three-run shot off of Chris Devenski. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night. The 25-year-old superstar has been outstanding in his first season with the Yankees, slashing a robust .347/.468/.600 with five homers, a whopping 20 RBI and one stolen base in his first 20 games. • Aaron Judge swipes first base of 2024 in victory
Aaron Judge went 1-for-3 with a walk and stole his first base of the 2024 season as the Yankees defeated the Rays on Friday evening in the Bronx.

Advice: Judge worked a two-out walk off of Tyler Alexander in the first inning and then swiped second base, but the Yankees were unable to cash him in. He also smacked a one-out single off of Shawn Armstrong in the sixth inning but was left stranded there. The 31-year-old superstar is off to a very disappointing start overall, slashing .189/.337/.378 with three homers, 11 RBI and one stolen base. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago
  • Richie Palacios clubs solo homer in loss on Friday
Richie Palacios clubbed a solo home run as the Rays fell to the Yankees on Friday evening in New York.

Advice: Palacios snapped a scoreless tie in the sixth inning, clobbering a 394-foot (103.3 mph EV) solo homer off of Clarke Schmidt to give the Rays the lead. It would be short-lived though. He also doubled off of Ian Hamilton in the eighth inning and scored on a two-run single by Isaac Paredes. The 26-year-old outfielder finished the night 2-for-4 and is now hitting .302/.423/.488 with a pair of homers and three RBI in his part-time role with the Rays. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago
  • Alec Bohm hits two three-run homers in victory
Alec Bohm hit a pair of three-run homers Friday against the White Sox.

Advice: That’s a great night, but his pitcher overshadowed him with a no-hit bid and then Travis d’Arnaud had to go and hit three homers (at least). Both of Bohm’s homers came off Garrett Crochet. The first was a 353-foot shot that Statcast says would have been out of two ballparks, but it doesn’t count for any less. Maybe it’s time for the Phillies to go back to Bohm in the cleanup spot; he currently has 160 points of OPS on JT Realmuto, who is batting one spot ahead of him. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago
  • Andrew Benintendi goes 0-for-4 in defeat
Andrew Benintendi finished 0-for-4 against the Phillies on Friday, dropping his average to .164.

Advice: Benintendi retroactively blamed a wrist injury for his poor showing last year. It’s possible the wrist injury has since spread throughout his body, which might explain why he has just one extra-base hit in 71 plate appearances this year. Unfortunately, there’s nothing really for the White Sox to do here other than keep playing him. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago
  • Gio Urshela leaves game with hamstring tightness
Gio Urshela was pulled from Friday night’s battle against the Twins due to right hamstring tightness.

Advice: Urshela sustained the injury while trying to hustle out a ground ball in the second inning. The severity of the injury is not yet clear, and the 32-year-old infielder will likely undergo additional testing on Saturday. If he’s forced to miss any time, the Tigers may be forced to call up Buddy Kennedy from Triple-A to provide depth for the remainder of their weekend series against the Twins. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago
