***ROUND 2 RECAP***
Brothers will be facing off in the 2013 Championship as #2 McNamee’s Heroes will take on his Krajeski counterpart #4 Nyjer Please.
This year’s Championship round is just a normal 7 day week, a change from years past. It actually used to be a full two weeks but it’s been a week and a half long the past two seasons.
Week 24 Fantasy MVP: Paul Goldschmidt earned MVP honors with 3 HR, 9 RBI, SB while batting .370.
#2 McNamee’s Heroes took care of #3 Tony’s Boyzs 8-2 to advance to the Championship for the third straight year, looking for a three-peat. M. Trout (3 HR, 6 RBI) and E. Andrus (2 HR, 7 RBI) led McNamee’s Heroes to a 4-1 win on offense, with 31 R, 8 HR, 28 RBI, .276. The usually potent Boyzs offense went a bit cold, as they could only take SB (6), led by D. Span (3 SB). McNamee’s Heroes also took pitching 4-1, as L. Lynn (1 W, 11 K, 2.13) and J. Benoit (2 SV, 4 K, 0.00) led them to 4 W, 5 SV, 64 K, 2.93 ERA. Tony’s Boyzs took WHIP (1.18) led by A. Cobb (1 W, 10 K, 2.25/0.88).
#4 Nyjer Please handed #1 New Yorkers a heart wrenching 6-4 defeat in an extremely tight matchup that went back and forth all week. Top-seeded New Yorkers actually had the lead on Saturday and it was a 5-5 tie entering Sunday, but the Nyjer Please offense put them ahead by one category on the final day. In the end, J. Bruce (HR, 14 RBI, SB, .333) and G. Stanton (2 HR) led Nyjer Please to an offensive sweep (27 R, 7 HR, 42 RBI, 2 SB, .298). NY had virtually no offensive production but managed to stay in it until the end. C. Kershaw (1 W, 10 K, 0.00) and E. Frieri (2 SV) helped NY take pitching 4-1 in the loss, with 6 W, 5 SV, 3.15/1.17, but they lost K for the first time all season (22-0) as Nyjer Please racked up a whopping 104 which is just shy of the league record (106) led by C. Lee (22 K) and A. Burnett (20 K), which ended up being the difference. If Nyjer Please didn’t have the unusual outburst of K and NY kept their streak alive they would be moving on, but instead Nyjer Please advances to their first Championship by a hair. NY only needed a tie to win it because of the season series but came up just short once again, making it five straight years of bitter playoff disappointment (four 6-4 losses and one infamous loss in a tie).
Good luck in the Krajeski Brothers Championship.
