Small tweak to Player Waiver Dates. The waiver dates are 2 business days and not really 2 days. If you release a guy on Thursday, he's not available until Monday. Friday/Tuesday. Kind of ridiculous for a league like this. Going forward, when Thu/Fri come around, when guys are released or new players enter the system, I'll make sure they're available on Sat/Sun so they can play Sun/Mon. Waiting 4 days is just dumb and not like real life at all.

Welcome back, all. Hope everyone's having a fine off-season. First order of business is choosing your keepers for the upcoming season before we hold our first ever FA/Rookie/Prospect Draft, the order of which will be determined essentially in reverse to what the standings were at the end of last season, except that the Consolation Winner will pick 1st so that there's something at stake with making that 8th playoff spot.

If there are any changes or what not to be determined before the season starts, have your say and we'll hash it over and put it to a vote. I'll get into it later, but I'm not sure that the OPS stat was nearly as exciting as I had envisioned, although I love Holds and thought that worked pretty well.

Empire Strikes Draft: Pre-Season Waiver Draft


After all GM's have gotten their teams down to 30 players, I'll publish the league and we'll be able to start trading amongst ourselves. But the FA-frenzy won't begin until the Waiver Draft is concluded.

Like real life, we draft from worst to first based on last year's standings, except the winner of the consolation match picks first. GM's get 24 hours to add one player (and drop one if they haven't done so already before the draft).

The order repeats itself.

A team's Waiver Priority is determined by how early they leave the draft. First team to leave the draft gets #1 waiver priority while the last team to leave gets the #16 waiver.

Your Waiver Priority will become important and the closer to #1 the better chance you have of claiming that new hot prospect that Yahoo will add all of a sudden during the season, but who sits on waivers for a couple days first.

Waivers are tradeable and must be included as a note in any trade.

Draft picks are tradeable, too. Some hot prospects were picked up throughout last year, but there are enough left along with some of the new add-ons by Yahoo, along with the rest of the free agents for us to have an interesting draft.

I'm currently fitting our two last teams with new owners. Once that's set and everyone's chosen their keepers, I'll make some kind of declaration that trading and the draft can begin.
