Just so there is no confusion, I feel like this league may be slightly too shallow. Next year, we will add back one more bench spot (giving us a standard MLB 25 players per team). Also, we will have 6 keepers instead of 5 to add more continuity for your team - getting attached to your top players is a very good thing, even if three of them bat under .240 to start the year and the ace of your staff hits the DL.......
Lastly, for those of you not in the basketball league, we will institute a draft lottery to prevent tanking. However, since this league is a shallow 10 members instead of a standard 12, the first two teams eliminated from the playoffs will also join the lottery. Division winners obviously lose lottery eligibility, and the four finalists will get slotted based on their playoff finishes as long as they dont tank. If they do, I flip a coin. I use a random number generator and the worst team has the best odds of the top spot, second worst second best, and so on. This will also be occurring in the football league, where we will certainly be dropping the bench spots down to two or three and are still considering contraction. 16 teams is nice and neat in the division breakdown, but damn tough on Rosters. I'll look closely at what teams could be like without the extra bench spots and well go from there. The other option was having two eight team leagues end in week 16 and scoring week 17 myself between the two champions, but what happens if two identical teams make it to the finals? Also, I think eight is way, way too shallow of a league.
One last note: I'm probably going to swap errors for fielding percentage next year. Makes more sense in the grand scheme of things.
