• JP Sears goes 5 2/3 on Wednesday for win
JP Sears gave up four runs over 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a win over the Rangers.

Advice: Sears drew the starting assignment for the opening contest of Wednesday’s doubleheader and managed to limit Texas’ lineup to just seven hits, including a pair of homers, into the middle innings. He got nine runs of support from Oakland’s offense to cruise to a win. He struck out three and only issued one walk. He’ll bring a serviceable 4.20 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 33/13 K/BB ratio across 45 innings (eight starts) into a road matchup on Monday against the division-rival Astros. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Red Sox activate Nick Pivetta from 15-day IL
Red Sox activated RHP Nick Pivetta from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: As anticipated, the 31-year-old hurler will rejoin the Red Sox’ rotation on Wednesday night against the Braves. Prior to landing on the injured list, Pivetta had posted a 1-1 record, 0.82 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and a 13/1 K/BB ratio over 11 innings through his first two starts. Given the fact that he threw just 62 pitches in his last rehab start — and the tough matchup against the Braves — fantasy managers may want to wait and see on this one before re-inserting him into lineups. • Michael Lorenzen hit hard in loss to A’s
Michael Lorenzen was lit up for six runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Lorenzen took the ball for the opening contest of Wednesday’s twin bill at Oakland Coliseum and turned in an absolute clunker. He was tagged for nine hits, including homers from Shea Langeliers and Brett Harris, before his calamitous outing came to a close. He finished with six strikeouts and only handed out a pair of free passes. He’ll being an inflated 4.66 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 23/14 K/BB ratio across 29 innings (five starts) into a home matchup on Tuesday against the Guardians. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Pulled after four innings
Bibee did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Tigers, allowing four runs on five hits in four innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Bibee looked sharp early Wednesday, allowing just one hit through his first three innings. However, things went south in the fourth, when Bibee allowed four runs on four hits. While Cleveland would ultimately rally for a win in extra innings, it was another disappointing start from Bibee -- he's now allowed 10 runs over nine innings in his last two outings. Overall, the 25-year-old right-hander is 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 44:13 K:BB in eight starts (40.1 innings) this season. Bibee's currently slated for a tough road matchup against the Rangers early next week. Rotowire.com 40 minutes ago

  • Making another rehab start
Hendricks (back) will make another rehab start at Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Hendricks made his first rehab start at Triple-A (second overall) on Tuesday, allowing one earned run in 4.1 innings while striking out six batters and walking three. He'll remain in the minors for another start, though there is no telling whether or not he'll be pulled off his assignment after Sunday's outing. If his next start does end up being his final appearance in the minors, Hendricks would be lined up to start May 17 against the Pirates. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago

  • Gavin Stone quiets Marlins to collect third win
Gavin Stone yielded one run over seven innings on Wednesday in a win over the Marlins.

Advice: Stone was excellent during Wednesday afternoon’s matinee at Dodger Stadium, limiting Miami’s floundering lineup to just a fourth-inning solo shot from Bryan De La Cruz over seven frames. He finished with four strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 25-year-old former top pitching prospect has held his own this season in his first extended chance in the big leagues, compiling a respectable 3.55 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 27/13 K/BB ratio across 38 innings (seven starts). He’ll face the division-rival Giants on Tuesday his next time out. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago

  • Ryan Weathers coughs up three runs in loss
Ryan Weathers surrendered three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Weathers was unable to solve lefty-masher Teoscar Hernández, who delivered a run-scoring single before tagging him for a two-run shot with two outs in the sixth inning. He finished with three strikeouts and only issued one walk. He’ll carry a serviceable 4.54 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 34/16 K/BB ratio across 41 2/3 innings (eight starts) into a road outing on Tuesday against the Tigers. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago

  • Falls apart in fifth inning
Soriano didn't factor in the decision Wednesday against the Pirates after he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander blanked Pittsburgh through four frames but was unable to get through the fifth as he surrendered all four runs on three hits and two walks. Soriano has a 1-4 record but has pitched well at times this season with two quality starts, though he's also given up four runs in three of his seven outings. He has a 4.32 ERA and 32:17 K:BB across 33.1 innings and tentatively lines up to face the Cardinals early next week. Rotowire.com Today, 2:24 pm

  • Solid again vs. Cleveland
Olson did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Guardians, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.

Advice: It was another excellent outing from Olson though he was ultimately stuck with the no-decision, despite allowing just one hit, as the Tigers' bullpen couldn't protect a 4-2 lead. Olson is 0-4 on the year despite holding opponents to one earned run or fewer in five of his seven starts. He lowered his ERA to 2.52 with a 1.12 WHIP and 35:15 K:BB across 39.1 innings. Olson will hope for better luck in his next turn in the rotation, currently scheduled for early next week against Miami. Rotowire.com Today, 2:20 pm
