    • Starting in place of resting Rortvedt
Jackson will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Jackson will get a turn behind the plate while top backstop Ben Rortvedt rests for the day game after a night game. Since his call-up from Triple-A Durham on May 3, Jackson is hitting a lowly .081/.159/.161 with 31 strikeouts in 70 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago

    • Back in lineup, batting sixth
Arenado (forearm) will start at third base and bat sixth in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Atlanta.

Advice: Arenado had been set to return Tuesday from a left forearm injury before that game was rained out and he remains in the lineup for the makeup game. The six spot represents the lowest Arenado has hit in his four seasons with the Cardinals. He is slashing just .257/.315/.371 on the season and hasn't homered since June 5. • Playing time on downswing
Haniger is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Haniger has picked up just one start in the Mariners' last five games, with Seattle facing five right-handers during that stretch. The Mariners should continue to make room in the lineup for Haniger against left-handed pitching, but Mitch Garver looks to be the preferred option ahead of Haniger at designated hitter when the team faces righties. • Four homers in six games
Reynolds went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Reds.

Advice: Reynolds extended his hitting streak to 22 games, but his power has been particularly notable of late. Across his last six starts, he has gone deep four times to bring his total on the season to 13. Across the entirety of his hitting streak, Reynolds has hit .360 with 16 RBI and 15 runs. • Reds call up Graham Ashcraft to start Wednesday
Reds recalled RHP Graham Ashcraft from Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Ashcraft, who had a 3.00 ERA in his two starts for Louisville after being sent down earlier this month, will start against the Pirates today. The Reds weren’t wanting to bring him back quite this soon, but Nick Lodolo’s blister created a need. Ashcraft was struggling before the demotion, having posted a 5.05 ERA overall and a 6.83 ERA in his final six starts. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • Reds send Yosver Zulueta back to Triple-A
Reds optioned RHP Yosver Zulueta to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Zulueta performed well in his major league debut last night, allowing one run and striking out four in three innings out of the pen. It’ll help his chances of getting the call next time the Reds need a reliever. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Snaps out of slump
Gonzales went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Reds.

Advice: Gonzales was in a cold spell entering Tuesday's contest, as he had gone just 1-for-23 with eight strikeouts across his past seven games. He snapped out of that slump with his second three-hit performance of the season. Despite the recent downturn, Gonzales has enjoyed his most sustained success in the majors, maintaining a .282 average and .755 OPS across 161 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

    • Not in Wednesday's lineup
Polanco is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Polanco played the first two games of the series upon his return from the injured list, going 1-for-8 with one run scored and four strikeouts. He'll receive a breather Wednesday as Dylan Moore fills in at second base. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

    • Looks set to join big club Thursday
The Reds announced Wednesday that Marte (suspension) has rejoined the team after completing his rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Marte won't be eligible to return from his 80-game suspension until Thursday's series opener in St. Louis, but since he's back in Cincinnati rather than sticking around in Louisville, the Reds are presumably preparing to add him back to the 26-man active roster ahead of their four-game series this weekend. The 22-year-old struggled to regain his timing at the plate during the rehab assignment, slashing .151/.151/.170 with no walks and a 28.3 percent strikeout rate over 12 games. However, after Marte posted an .822 OPS in 123 plate appearances in his first taste of the big leagues in 2023, the Reds look as though they'll allow him to iron out the kinks in the majors. He's seen action at third base, second base and shortstop during his rehab assignment and may have to settle for more of a utility role with the Reds until he performs well enough to warrant everyday playing time.
