    • Andrew Abbott takes loss against Brewers
      Andrew Abbott allowed three runs on four hits in five innings in a loss to the Brewers on Saturday.

      Advice: It wasn’t a poor performance for the left-hander, who walked three and struck out three on the day. As is typical, Abbott didn’t get many whiffs, with just six whiffs on 43 swings for a 14 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW. However, he also didn’t allow much hard contact with just an 82.3 mph average exit velocity allowed.     • Exits early with triceps tightness
      Yamamoto was pulled from Saturday's start against the Royals with triceps tightness. He allowed one hit and one walk with one strikeout across two scoreless innings before being removed.

      Advice: Yamamoto was initially scheduled to start Thursday but had the outing pushed back for rest purposes, though after Saturday's abbreviated outing it seems possible the rookie was dealing with some sort of issue. Yamamoto saw his fastball velocity dip to as low as 92.9 mph before being removed, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Michael Grove will take over on the mound for the Dodgers.       Scherzer (back/arm) is expected to throw 70-to-75 pitches in a rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, which will be his final rehab start before being activated from the 60-day injured list, barring a setback, Josh Kirshenbaum of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Saturday's start will be Scherzer's second rehab appearance since he resumed the minor-league assignment with Round Rock this past Sunday, when he tossed four scoreless innings. If all goes well Saturday, Scherzer will be ready to return to the active roster and make his 2024 debut as soon as Wednesday versus the Mets after undergoing an offseason back surgery and dealing with thumb and forearm issues throughout his recovery.       Advice: Scherzer will be back on the mound for the second start of his rehab assignment after tossing four scoreless innings while striking out five Sunday against Triple-A Oklahoma City. The right-hander has yet to make his season debut as he's been recovering from offseason back surgery and then a subsequent thumb injury he suffered in April.       Advice: Senga was able to throw more than 30 pitches in the session and he's expected to throw a shorter one next week. The right-hander has been slowly working his way back from a posterior right capsule strain and then a subsequent triceps injury, and he's yet to make his season debut. Senga has already been ruled out for the first half of the season, but if he can build on Saturday's session next week, he'll remain on track to return relatively soon following the All-Star break.       Advice: Scherzer appears to be close to making it back for the defending World Series champions after suffering a thumb-related setback during his rehabilitation process from offseason back surgery.       Suarez came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Orioles, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: The southpaw delivered his ninth quality start of the season on 88 pitches (57 strikes), but Suarez was denied his 11th win in a wild affair that saw half the game's runs cross the plate after the ninth inning. Since his nine-start win streak ended in late May, the 28-year-old has posted a 3.10 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB through 20.1 innings over four outings.       Vesia allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 4-3 win over the Royals.

      Advice: Most of the Dodgers' bullpen had pitched twice over the last three days, including regular closer Evan Phillips. The two freshest relievers were Vesia and Daniel Hudson, who earned the win after pitching the eighth inning. Vesia is on an 8.2-inning scoreless streak with a 13:1 K:BB, two saves and two holds in that span. He continues to impress this season with a 1.13 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB over 32 innings.
