      Advice: Tovar was the only Rockie with multiple hits in the contest. This was his 10th multi-hit effort over his last 16 games, a span in which he's batting .356 (26-for-73) with four homers, nine RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base. The shortstop is up to a .294/.328/.481 slash line with eight homers, 24 RBI, 30 runs scored, four steals, 17 doubles and a triple over 55 contests this season.       Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in a win Friday against the Dodgers.

      Advice: Tovar gave the Rockies a 4-0 lead with a solo homer in the fourth off Walker Buehler. The shortstop has homered eight times in 2024 with five of them coming in May.       Varsho was unavailable for Friday's game against the Pirates due to food poisoning, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

      Advice: Varsho's absence Friday shielded him from facing left-hander Bailey Falter, but the Blue Jays have now revealed they held the 27-year-old out due to illness rather than an unfavorable matchup.       Bibee (4-1) allowed a run on three hits and a walk over 6.1 innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Bibee dominated in six shutout frames before Washington finally pushed home a run in the seventh. He's turned in three straight quality starts, dropping his season ERA from 4.34 to 3.74 during that span. The 25-year-old righty has allowed two or fewer runs in seven of his first 12 starts.       Daulton Varsho was held out of the Blue Jays’ starting lineup on Friday night due to food poisoning.

He's produced five multi-hit performances in his last eight appearances. Kwan owns a strong .365/.420/.504 slash line with 30 runs scored and a 12:12 BB:K through 150 plate appearances.       Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Friday’s loss to the Red Sox that Mark Canha underwent additional testing on his injured left hip.

      Advice: Canha was a late scratch from Friday’s lineup with the hip issue — which apparently has been bothering him for some time now and finally told the Tigers that he couldn’t play through it any longer.     • Tanner Bibee blazes past Nationals for win
      Tanner Bibee allowed one earned run across 6 ⅓ innings in a 7-1 win over the Nationals on Friday. He struck out seven and walked one.

      Advice: This was a tremendous start for Bibee mostly fueled by increased fastball velocity. His heater ticked up to 98 MPH and averaged 95.5 MPH, but tailed off in the seventh inning as the Nationals started to get around on him. This was the second time in three starts Bibee’s fastball averaged at least 95.5 MPH and keeping the velocity on that pitch up is the key to his success. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:40 pm

      Steven Kwan went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a walk in a win over the Nationals on Friday.
