    • Triples, scores in loss
Carroll went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple and a run scored in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Miami.

Advice: Arizona's offense couldn't get anything going until Carroll tripled and scored in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was the outfielder's fourth triple of the season, all coming within the last eight games. However, there's been little to celebrate for Carroll, whose .188 average and .096 ISO are miles below what they were in 2023. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:13 am
    • Dealing with forearm discomfort
Javier is dealing with forearm discomfort and didn't throw his scheduled bullpen session Sunday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Manager Joe Espada said Javier is day-to-day, but the right-hander would appear to be at significant risk of missing his next turn through the rotation Tuesday in Seattle. Chandler Rome of The Athletic speculates Hunter Brown could start Tuesday on four days' rest, with Eric Lauer a possibility to be called up from Triple-A Sugar Land to fill Javier's turn in the rotation Wednesday. • Corbin Carroll triples and scores in loss to Fish
Corbin Carroll tripled, walked and scored a run as the Diamondbacks fell to the Marlins on Sunday afternoon in Miami.

Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder smacked a one-out triple off of Calvin Faucher in the eighth inning and dashed home with the Diamondbacks’ first run on a ground ball off the bat of Lourdes Gurriel Jr. While Carroll’s bat has perked up over the past couple of weeks, he’s still slashing an anemic .188/.274/.284 on the season to go along with two homers, 17 RBI and nine stolen bases. • Cristian Javier (forearm) considered day-to-day
Cristian Javier did not throw his scheduled bullpen session on Sunday due to discomfort in his forearm.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander is being considered day-to-day, but that has to put Tuesday’s start against the Mariners in Seattle in jeopardy. Look for the Astros to provide more information on his status prior to Monday’s contest. Fantasy managers should be sure to have a contingency plan in place in the event that Javier is unable to go. • Getting break Sunday
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Ruiz will get a breather after starting the last two games for Washington while going 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Riley Adams will fill in at catcher at bat eighth in place of Ruiz. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:40 am

    • Absence continues as expected
Riley (side) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Friday that Riley likely won't return to action until Monday versus Washington, so it's no surprise the third baseman will sit for the 13th straight game due to an intercostal strain. Zack Short will receive another start at the hot corner in the series finale at Pittsburgh. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:44 am

    • Austin Riley (side) remains out of lineup Sunday
Austin Riley (side) is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Pirates.

Advice: That makes 13 straight games that Riley will miss due to his side soreness. The infielder will take a seat again with Zack Short drawing another start at the hot corner. Riley’s next chance to start will come Monday against the Nationals. Rotoworld Sunday, 7:34 am

    • Resting Sunday
Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Advice: After starting at catcher in the last five games, Smith will get a break for the day game as the team finishes out its series in Cincinnati. Austin Barnes will get the start behind home plate and will bat ninth in place of Smith. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:26 am

    • Hitless but makes impact
Carroll went 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Carroll managed to make an impact without a hit. He led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk then stole a base before scoring the club's first run. An inning later, his sacrifice fly plated what turned out to be the winning run. The move back up to the top of the order hasn't shaken Carroll out of a season-opening slump. He was batting .203 as of May 5, when manager Torey Lovullo moved him back into the familiar leadoff role. Seventeen games later, Carroll's average has dipped to .186. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:20 am
