    • Snaps team scoreless streak
Steer went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Steer's ninth-inning single plated Cincinnati's lone run -- his team-leading 23rd RBI -- and snapped the club's 26-inning scoreless streak at home. The Reds, which started five players batting .200 or lower, have had issues scoring of late, batting .185 with 78 strikeouts over the last eight games (six losses). Steer's .333 average and .639 slugging with runners in scoring position could be more helpful if the Reds can get on base in front of him. The club ranks 27th in MLB with a .292 on-base percentage. • Javier (neck) could rejoin Astros during road trip
Cristian Javier (neck) could rejoin the Astros rotation during their upcoming road trip.

Advice: Javier didn’t pitch particularly well Saturday during his rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi, but the three runs allowed over 3 1/3 innings aren’t what’s important. What does matter is that Javier felt good after the start, and he was able to throw 68 pitches. The Astros really need the rotation help right now, and while they won’t rush Javier back, the chance for a return in the next week or so looks promising. Rotoworld Today, 9:20 am

    • Throws 68 pitches in rehab outing
Javier (neck) allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three across 3.1 innings in a rehab outing with Double-A Corpus Christi on Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The results weren't overly impressive, but it was otherwise a successful outing for Javier, as he was slated to throw roughly 65 pitches in the outing and met that goal (68 pitches). Assuming no news of a setback emerges, he could rejoin the Astros' rotation at some point in the upcoming week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:33 pm

    • Corbin Carroll singles in loss to Padres
Corbin Carroll went 1-for-4 with a single as the Diamondbacks were demolished by the Padres on Saturday night in San Diego.

Advice: Hitting out of the eighth spot in the Diamondbacks’ lineup, the 23-year-old outfielder singled with two outs in the fifth inning but was left stranded at first base. He struck out in each of his other two plate appearances in the ballgame. It’s been a brutal start to the season for Carroll, as he’s hitting a paltry .194/.291/.242 with one home run, five RBI and eight stolen bases through his first 32 ballgames. • Cristian Javier (neck) throws 68 pitches in rehab start
Cristian Javier (neck) made his first minor league rehab start at Double-A Corpus Christi on Saturday, giving up three runs on three hits over 3 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander walked a pair while striking out three batters in the contest. He threw 68 pitches in the game, 39 of those for strikes. There had been speculation that he would require just one rehab start before returning to the Astros’ rotation next week, we’ll see if that holds after how Saturday’s outing went. • Slugs homer in victory Friday
Hernandez went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 extra-innings win against Atlanta.

Advice: Offense was sparse for both teams until extra innings, and Hernandez's solo shot in the fourth held up as the decisive margin until Ronald Acuna tied the score with a solo shot of his own in the eighth. Hernandez's long ball was his seventh of the season -- he's tied with Shohei Ohtani for the team lead in that category and ranks third with 23 RBI. Hernandez has slugged at least 22 homers in every full campaign since 2018 and is well on pace to meet that mark again in his first season as a Dodger. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:40 am
    • Returns to action
      Encarnacion-Strand went 0-for-3 in Friday's 3-0 loss to Baltimore.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand missed the last four games with a hand injury. His first full season in the majors has gotten off to a rocky start, as the first baseman is slashing .190/.216/.305 over 111 plate appearances. His strikeout rate is nearly identical to what it was in 2023, but the walk rate is about half of what it was last year and Encarnacion-Strand is in the fifth percentile in chase percentage. • Throws across infield
Gelof (oblique) threw across the infield before Friday's game against the Marlins, the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Gelof was cleared for baseball activities Wednesday, when he began fielding grounders and playing catch. His ability to do some more aggressive throwing Friday is encouraging, but it remains unclear when he'll be ready to pick up a bat again. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:13 pm

    • Austin Riley swats solo homer in extra-inning loss
Austin Riley went went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in a loss to the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Riley got Atlanta on the board with a solo homer in the first off Gavin Stone, and that’d be the last run they’d score with Stone in the game. Riley is now up to 17 RBI and three homers to go with a disappointing .725 OPS over 124 at-bats. Rotoworld Friday, 10:15 pm
