      Phillies signed LHP Cristopher Sánchez to a four-year contract extension with club options for 2029 and 2030.

      Advice: The long-term extension, which was first reported earlier on Saturday by the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, is now official. The deal essentially buys out Sanchez’s remaining arbitration-eligible seasons with club options for his first two free agent years. No word yet on the exact financial terms. It wasn’t looking good for Philadelphia a couple years ago when Curtis Mead blossomed into one of the most promising prospects in baseball after being shipped to Tampa Bay for Sánchez. However, the pendulum has swung back the other way with Mead struggling in the majors and Sánchez turning into a reliable mid-rotation stabilizer. A groundout moved the phantom runner to third base in the 10th inning, but Estevez struck out the next two batters to protect the one-run lead. He's 14-for-17 in save chances with a 3.38 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 25:3 K:BB over 24 innings. This is arguably the best Estevez has ever looked in the majors, which will boost his trade value, though he's unlikely to be the primary closer on a contender if a deal comes to fruition.       Carlos Estévez struck out two while picking up a save in a scoreless inning of work against the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: Estévez has been one of the few bright spots for the Angels this year, and now has 14 saves on the season and a 3.38 ERA. With Los Angeles nowhere near contention for a postseason spot, it would seem likely that the 31-year-old is pitching for a new team before August.       Montgomery (6-4) earned the win against the Phillies on Friday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk with five strikeouts over six innings.

      Advice: Montgomery tossed two scoreless innings before surrendering a two-run home run to Trea Turner in the third. He responded with three straight scoreless innings and left the game with a 4-2 lead after throwing 83 pitches. Montgomery earned his third consecutive win while registering his first quality start in June, but he has not reached 90 pitches in an outing since May 19.       Ryan Helsley fired a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Giants to record his major league-leading 25th save of the season.

      Advice: Helsley was summoned to protect a narrow one-run lead at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama and made things interesting by issuing a leadoff walk to Trenton Brooks and surrendering a two-out single to Patrick Bailey, which put the potential tying run in scoring position. He managed to wriggle out of the jam by striking out Matt Chapman to extinguish the threat. The hard-throwing 29-year-old righty has converted 25 of 26 save chances this season to go along with a sparkling 2.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 38/13 K/BB ratio across 33 innings (33 appearances).
