      The Guardians reinstated Williams (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Sunday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Cleveland designated right-hander Darren McCaughan for assignment and demoted right-hander Triston McKenzie to Triple-A Columbus to clear spots on the 40-man roster, 26-man active roster and in the rotation for Williams, who is poised to make his 2024 debut for the Guardians during the club's three-game series versus the White Sox this week. Williams had been on the shelf all season after injuring his right elbow during a weighted-ball workout in spring training, but he looks to be stretched out for starting duty after covering five and four innings in the final two of his six rehab outings at Triple-A Columbus. After turning in a 3.29 ERA in 16 starts as a rookie in 2023, Williams makes for an appealing pickup in shallower formats where he might still be kicking around on the waiver wire.       Nola (9-4) took the loss Saturday, giving up three runs on six hits over 6.2 innings in a 3-2 loss to the Marlins. He struck out nine without walking a batter.

      Advice: The veteran right-hander delivered his third straight quality start and 12th of the season on 100 pitches (71 strikes), but Nola let a win slip through his fingers when he served up back-to-back doubles with two outs in the seventh inning, with both coming around to score the final runs of the game. Nola took his first loss since May 8, and he'll carry a 3.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 99:25 K:BB through 107.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Atlanta.     • Aaron Nola strikes out nine in loss Saturday
      Aaron Nola allowed three runs with nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a loss to the Marlins on Saturday.

      Advice: A solo homer by Nick Gordon in the second inning was the only run Nola had allowed going into the seventh. He stayed in just a bit too long as two doubles and a base hit would bring two more runs in to score for the Marlins, costing Nola the chance for the win. Still, he struck out nine batters with no walks in the solid outing. The 31-year-old right-hander will take a 3.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 99/25 K/BB ratio across 107 2/3 innings into a start against the Braves in Atlanta on Friday. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:47 pm

      Blanco (8-3) took the loss Friday as the Astros were downed 7-2 by the Mets, surrendering six runs (three earned) on six hits -- including three home runs -- and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: It was a tough night for the right-hander, who served up multiple long balls for the first time since May 3 and got tagged for three for the first time in his career. Despite his struggles keeping the ball in the park, Blanco nearly escaped with his fourth straight quality start due to an Alex Bregman error, but he fell one out short and got the hook after 98 pitches (65 strikes). Blanco will take a 2.49 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 84:37 K:BB through 90.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Toronto. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:23 pm

      Ober allowed a run on two hits and three walks while striking out nine over six innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Friday.

      Advice: Ober left the game in line for the lead, but Griffin Jax allowed the tying run in the eighth inning. Ober has been absolutely dialed in over his last three starts, allowing just four runs with a 27:5 K:BB across 21.1 innings in that span. He's now at a 4.30 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 92:23 K:BB through 88 innings over 16 starts this season. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at home versus the Tigers.     • Bailey Ober fans nine in no-decision vs. Mariners
      Bailey Ober held the Mariners to one run with nine strikeouts in six innings in a no-decision.

      Advice: Ober wasn’t as good as he was in his complete game against Oakland, but it was another pretty strong outing. The right-hander’s only run allowed shouldn’t have happened, as Christian Vazquez couldn’t hold onto a ball that would have had Mitch Haniger out by about 15 feet if it doesn’t get by him. He’s struck out 19 hitters in his last two outings, and his ERA is now down to 4.30. He’s scheduled to square off against the Tigers next week. Rotoworld Friday, 9:32 pm
       
    • Ronel Blanco can’t overcome red-hot Mets
      Ronel Blano was pulled after 5 2/3 innings after allowing six runs, three earned, on Friday against the Mets. He struck out five and walked three in a loss.

      Advice: Blanco pitched fine Friday. His three unearned runs came as a result of an Alex Bregman two-out error that allowed Jeff McNeil to sneak a ball just over the right field fence in the next at-bat. That was the Mets’ third home run of the game as Tyrone Taylor and Pete Alonso also left the yard. He still missed plenty of bats with 12 whiffs on the day and would have earned his fourth straight quality start if Bregman had fielded that ground ball cleanly. Rotoworld Friday, 7:21 pm

      Flaherty (5-5) took the loss against the Angels on Thursday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Flaherty got tagged for a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the second before proceeding to strike out six of the next nine batters he faced. However, the right-hander would go on to surrender two more long balls on the night as the Tigers failed to back him with anything on offense. Flaherty had allowed one run or fewer in four consecutive starts coming in, and no runs in three of his previous four. The three home runs he gave up Thursday also marked a season high.       Advice: Flaherty surrendered three homers, matching his total from his previous six starts combined.
