Kwan (hamstring) went 1-for-2 with an RBI, two walks, three runs scored and a stolen base in a rehab game with Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Advice: After two games with High-A Lake County, Kwan moved his rehab to Columbus earlier this week. He was on base three times Thursday in his second game with the Guardians' top minor-league affiliate and added a steal for good measure, showing good confidence in his hamstring. The 26-year-old appears poised to return to the major-league lineup in the near future, possibly as soon as Friday against Washington, and will look to pick up where he left off before going down after posting a .353/.407/.496 slash line over his first 32 games this season. • IL stint expected to be brief
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that he's optimistic O'Neill's (knee) stay on the 10-day injured list will be a short one, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: O'Neill landed on the IL on Wednesday with right knee inflammation, an injury that he had been playing with for a while. While Cora didn't exactly commit to O'Neill requiring just the minimum 10-day absence, it does not appear he will be out long. He's eligible for activation June 5. Rob Refsnyder appears most likely to soak up the bulk of the playing time at designated hitter while O'Neill is out, although the Red Sox have Connor Wong at DH and Reese McGuire at catcher Thursday versus the Tigers. • Sitting after three straight starts
Chourio is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Chourio had started each of the previous three games, but two of those starts came while the Cubs sent left-handers Justin Steele and Shota Imanaga to the mound. The rookie outfielder will hit the bench Thursday against right-hander Jameson Taillon and still looks to be stuck in a short-side platoon role in the corner outfield with Sal Frelick. • Jackson Chourio is on the bench on Thursday
Jackson Chourio is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Cubs.

Advice: It’s most likely just a typical rest day for Chourio. The rookie’s overall slash line is not impressive, but there are some signs of life. His seven steals and five home runs have been a help to fantasy managers and he cut his strikeout rate from 32 percent in April to just 19 percent in May. The hits are not coming and the groundball rate continues to rise, but it’s good to see the 20-year-old making more consistent contact. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:38 am

    • Red Sox place Tyler O’Neill (knee) on IL
Red Sox placed OF Tyler O’Neill on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 26, with right knee inflammation.

Advice: The Red Sox were hopeful that the 28-year-old slugger wouldn’t require a stint on the injured list, but they still believe that it’ll be a short stay there and he’ll be ready to return as soon as he’s eligible. Perhaps a few days off to clear his head will help his recent struggles at the dish as well. Enmanuel Valdez was recalled from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move on Wednesday. • Lands on injured list
The Red Sox placed O'Neill on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to right knee inflammation, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: O'Neill has been dealing with knee problems since leaving Sunday's game against the Brewers, and he traveled back to Boston on Tuesday to undergo imaging. The results of his tests seem to have only revealed inflammation, but his injury is still serious enough to warrant a trip to the injured list. The outfielder's move to the IL is retroactive to Sunday, so he will be eligible to return beginning June 5. Until then, Enmanuel Valdez will come up from the minors to fill the open roster spot. • Getting day off
Pham is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: The White Sox will give rest to two of their veteran outfielders in the series finale, with Andrew Benintendi joining Pham on the bench. Dominic Fletcher will fill in as the White Sox's starting center fielder after Pham had been included in the lineup in each of the last 26 games. Pham has been one of Chicago's most productive hitters since signing with the team in April, but he's fallen into a 0-for-12 funk at the plate over his last three starts. • Spencer Steer goes 0-for-4 against Cardinals
Spencer Steer went 0-for-4 in Wednesday’s loss to the Cardinals, dropping his average to .221.

Advice: Steer is hitting .190/.304/.354 this month. His exit velocity numbers and xBA/xSLG stats are all pretty much the same as last year, so it seems likely that he’ll rebound, hopefully in short order. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:40 pm

    • Tommy Pham takes a seat versus Blue Jays
Tommy Pham is out of the White Sox lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: It’s his first time absent from the lineup since May 7. The White Sox are using Corey Julks in the leadoff spot and giving Dominic Fletcher a start in center tonight. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:48 pm
